Great store, even greater service

My wife and I were in the store over Christmas stay in Ocracoke. We've been in the store many times over the past years. This time I had the great pleasure of having a very special talk with the Owner, Ms Lane. She was full of information and we talked a lot about books. We went back later with friends. This is a very nice shop and the staff have ALWAYS been very helpfull and ready to assist. The store has a very nice feel. Love the store. To the Staff... See ya in June!

Love this store! I love the book selection, unique gift items and jewelry. The children's book and toy section is a great place to find fun items to keep the little ones entertained, too.

My Go To Spot for Christmas Gifts

Part of my annual visit to Ocracoke is shopping for the Holidays. I can always count on finding books, gifts, unique items here. It's one of my favorite spots on the Island.

Just Right!

Books to Be Red is that rare creature in modern America: A business that appears to have sprouted organically from its' place. They have something for every member of a vacationing family (or one that lives there). The staff is helpful and the owner is helpful, articulate and very knowledgeable about the stock. She is not overly chatty or opinionated but if asked her opinion will answer with some snap. As a visitor I consider Books to Be Red a valuble part of the Okracoke experience. I plan to return again and again.

Great Handmade journals

They have these wonderful handmade journals with leather covers. I really haven't found anything as nice anywhere else. They had just sold the last one when I visited this summer, so we were able to get one to me via mail order as soon as the
next batch came in. Great and cheerful service.

I found some fabulous pottery. I came home with a vase and am now special ordering for my MIL and SIL as they immediately said,''Christmas please!''.

I like their jewelry. I visit once a year - a good thing as I always end up buying something. I did not find that they sell products online.

Beautiful pottery, unique small accessories and artwork for the home. Great selection of books and a wonderful children's room filled with special books and toys. Always affordable. The place smells wonderful too! The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly. I have been visiting for almost ten years and I always come back. One of my favorites. Wish they had one in my hometown.

After eating at the Flying Melon, ride your bikes to this lovely, enchanting little book store filled with more than just great books. Friendly staff, unique gifts and local art make for a wonderful shopping experience. Great for the whole family!
