Kitty Hawk Kites Fly Into Spring

Jockey's Ridge State Park (Milepost 12.5): This first weekend in April kicks off National Kite Month! Kitty Hawk Kites will teach local schools and youth groups about kite flying and aviation. Portions of the events proceeds benefit Children & Youth Partnership, a local charity. Free kite flying lessons, games, demos, and kite making are provided. This is a fun fly for all ages! Come help Kitty Hawk Kites celebrate kite month!

Kitty Hawk Kites Annual Easter Eggstravaganza
Saturday, April 11, 2009 - Saturday, April 11, 2009 (11am - 1pm)
Kitty Hawk Kites store (Milepost 12.5): This is the largest Easter egg hunt in the Outer Banks! Over 2,000 candy and toy-filled eggs are waiting to be collected. The event also includes chalk coloring contests, kite making, games and surprise visits from Wil-Bear and friends. Come welcome spring to the Outer Banks.

37th Annual Hang Gliding Spectacular

Jockey's Ridge State Park (Milepost 12.5): This is the world's oldest, continuous Hang gliding competition. Hang gliding professionals from all over the world come to the Outer Banks to compete and have fun on Jockey's Ridge State Park. Demonstrations, street dances and awards ceremonies are all features of this spectacular event. Families can enjoy a rock climbing wall, hang gliding simulator, kite making, face painting and a visit by Wil-Bear Wright. A portion of the events proceeds will go to benefit Friends of Jockeys Ridge, a non-profit organization which supports the development of Jockey's Ridge State Park.

Wil-Bear Wright's Festival of Fun

Kitty Hawk Kites store (Milepost 12.5): Come visit Wil-Bear Wright and Kitty Hawk Kites for a day filled with fun activities for the kids. Make and fly your own kite, try yo-yo stunts, get your face painted, and demo all the new toys for 2009.

This Wednesday family extravaganza kicks off the Kitty Hawk Kites summer long Kid's Day, held every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Nags Head store, located at Milepost 12.5 in Nags Head.

27th Annual Rogallo Kite Festival

Jockey's Ridge State Park (Milepost 12.5): The Rogallo Kite festival, presented by Kitty Hawk Kites, will continue honoring Francis M. Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the Flexible Wing. This two day festival will feature our signature kite flying on the dunes of Jockey's ridge as well as nightly entertainment celebrating the history of kiting. Throughout the festival, exhibitions and demonstrations, including stunt and power kite lessons, are provided. There will also be free children's games and kite making.

Kitty Hawk Kites store (Milepost 12.5): You won't want to miss this big outdoor summer bash with a homegrown backyard feel. The festival features family entertainment, dozens of spirited games and activities, and watermelons galore. This official Life is good event will donate all of festival proceeds to children's charities.

Blackbeard's Pirate Festival

Kitty Hawk Kites store (Milepost 12.5): This week-long event kicks off on Monday, with community events happening all week and all over the Outer Banks. Enjoy Pirate history, storytelling, re-enactments and shows.

The finale of a fun filled week of events will be on Saturday, September 19th at the Kitty Hawk Kites Store in Nags Head. Enjoy everything Pirate-style, from photos to entertainment to paraphernalia.

Hangin' with Santa & Kites with Lights

Kitty Hawk Kites store (Milepost 12.5): Children can have their free photo taken with Santa in a demonstration Hang Glider on Friday and Saturday, set up at Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head. This event is free, so bring your cameras! On November 28th, watch the night sky magically transform as skilled flyers maneuver their lit stunt kites to the sounds of your favorite holiday songs atop Jockey's Ridge State Park. Join us for hot apple cider and cookies beginning at sunset, across the street at the Kitty Hawk Kites store.
