''We just got back from a couple of nights in the OBX. Normally we stay in a vacation rental, but this time tried FCI - excellent choice on our part! The bedroom and bathroom were very clean (the better half cannot stand a dirty bathroom and even she commented on how clean things were). Everything is well appointed and very cozy.

We go to Nags Head quite a bit -- in the future, I think we'll extend our stay and spend a couple of nights in First Colony Inn before checking into our vacation renta...''

''The Castle has a B&B and then they have villas. One of their villas is across the street right on the harbor. It has a phenomenal view of the harbor and a screened porch to enjoy it. It's the only room they have with a King bed and there's a really nice jacuzzi. Be warned that breakfast is not included though - we misunderstood that from the reservationist. The home is one to remember and had plenty of room for all to enjoy. Not at any time during our stay did anyone feel as if they were crowding on each other. ''Upon arriving to the comfort inn south located at nags head we found that it was a mistake to stay here. There was water leakage as you walked into the building. The floors were nasty. As we got on the elevator and came to the floor of our room, there was a horrible odor and everything basically looked skank. Our room was extremely NASTY!!!! By the way, Dunes Resturant and Fat Joes WERE AWESOME!!!! Make sure that online rates reflect rates at check-in. Plus we were able to reserve our room for another night for a very reasonable price. ''most of the other reviews are accurate - this is indeed an old motel that needs renovation. but its in a great area and is extremely affordable ($150 is affordable for peak season in the OBX) - especially with limited pet-friendly options in the nag's head area. its right on the beach and close to restaurants and attractions. the SUPER friendly and accomodating staff makes up for the basic rooms and pool area. i'd recommend it if you're a low-maintanence person just looking for a place to crash...''

''We just got back from 9 days of camping. Weather was great!! Site size is VERY small. We had a pull through lot (312) and could not park our truck on the same site. Our Electrical box shorted 3 times losing power to the camper. They sent a worker to fix it but it still shorted out. Cable was very fuzzy they changed the connector and that seemed to help. Indoor pool is a very nice option. The hot tub burned my leg. For the price ($80 a night) there are a lot of other campgrounds in the area for h...''

''I took my son and mother down for a long weekend over Memorial Day this year. We stayed ocean front for less than we could have stayed a block away at many other locations. We could leave the front door or curtains of our three bedroom suite open and see the waves rolling in. ''The Salvo Inn Motel is just about the most basic room you can get. It seems to be a very old rooming house. After checking in at the office, you follow a drive into a residential area. The motel is on your left, the biggest building there amongst the houses. My room contained a king size bed, a small refrigerator, a small microwave, a cable tv mounted from the ceiling and a bathroom with a full bath and shower. It was shabbily decorated but a decent value. I recommend it for a weekend but a week...''

They don't offer a bar or lounge but I was there for fun, surf and fishing. The units are clean and affordable. The owners are the best I have ever met. Your experience here will be reminiscent of the past and a prerequisite for future visits. You are centrally located to shopping centers, restaurants and most importantly the water. Great pier fishing is just a few minutes away....''
