Review Guidelines
Basic Review Guidelines:

Your review should focus on specific aspects of the business you are reviewing. Do not simply state you liked or disliked the business - be specific.

The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked a business' products or service, but also why.

DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS!

Do not mention competing company names in your reviews. Focus on the company you are reviewing, and if you wish, leave a review about the other companies on their directory listings.

Do not comment on other reviews - respect their position and write your own, but do not argue with others.

Do not use profanity or post spiteful remarks.

Do not write a review that is less than 50 words in length. The goal of a review is to share your experiences with a particular company - very short reviews do not accomplish this.

Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or URLs.

Do not post inflammatory reviews - stop and put yourself in the shoes of the owner of the business you are posting about.

Do not post many reviews about one business. Doing this will cause all of your reviews to be deleted.

Remember, you are responsible for your words.

We stopped in for a quick bite for the kids and a couple app's with cold beers one night. It was so delicious we came back the next night. The mahi stix, crab balls, and hot tuna app were delicious. If you are up to the challenge, the steamer pot is out of this world. Go enjoy!

Hot Tuna.. is a ''Lagniappe''
By Guest on 6/21/2008
My wife and I stopped to eat at Hot Tuna while on our way to Cape Hatteras.
We wanted something local and the hostess recommended their ''CRAB CAKES''. As she said,''you get more crab then cake''. It has been two years since we tasted this wonderful dish and I still think about Hot Tuna's crab cakes!
Don't drive past these eats!
We will stop there again!

Good local seafood
By msDC on 6/17/2008
When we were at the Hot Tuna around May 25th they informed us that they were under new management and had to apply for a new liquor license. When we went back June 9th they had one. I have always had the best crab bisque anywhere there and all of their food is very reasonably priced. Have you looked at how expensive crab meat and cream are? They are one of the few restaurants that have fresh seafood from the area and it is always good. This is a true bar with a bar like atmosphere and good inexpensive food and cold beer. The service is typical for the Island, a little rough around the edges but fine.
I would rather eat here with real food and real people that at some chain restaurant in Nags Head.

Not good.
By Copperjewel on 5/22/2008
I don't know if new owners have taken over this place or what but the food there is not good at all. I ordered the way overpriced tiny cup of crab bisque and it was served cold. Next I had the crab cakes which were visibly burnt, I don't understand why the cook would even send them out like that. I ate them anyway, although I should have sent them back, they were horrible. The sides were awful as well. Both the coleslaw and potato salad had little flavor. Also this place is advertised as a pub yet they do not have beer or wine for sale even though it is still featured on all of the menus. I understand they are awaiting their ABC license but maybe they should make that clear somewhere on the doors or something for those of us that would like a cold beer or glass of wine with our dinner. The service was ok but we were the only diners there at the time. I will not be returning to this establishment.

Best seafood in town.
By Janet on 3/18/2008
This is a small local run seafood restaurant. The owner and cooks are fishermen and it's the real deal. I love the fried shrimp and flounder. They also have very friendly staff. This is the true experience of local living. This is a small restaurnt, if you really must bring a large party have a beer and chill out. Looks like they are expanding, last time I was in there they had some construction going on.

Service:
Very much offended
By obx 07 on 10/14/2007
In Oct. 06 15 of us came upon this place by accident and fell in love with it. The food was fabulous, our waitress was fabulous. We could not wait to come back. I told everyone the half hour trip was worth it. I could not have been more disappointed nor offended with what happended next.We had 17 people in our party. After waiting 1 hour and 5 min. and noticing that customers seated after us had recieved their food we began to wonder why we did not recieve ours. We approached the waitress asking what is the hold up. She rudely informed us this is a large party and they take longer. Next I spoke to what I assumed was the manager/cook he told me that we were welcome to leave. So we did. It is a shame a person's help can ruin a business. I really hope this review will help the owner know what is going on when not there. That bill would have been well over $200.00 for lunch.

We at at the Hot Tuna for dinner tonight. Their krab legs are good. The atmosphere of the restaraunt is weird. There were about 5 workers with dredlocks & strange music playing. I liked the food but you will be weirded out about the atmosphere.
