Review Guidelines
Basic Review Guidelines:

Your review should focus on specific aspects of the business you are reviewing. Do not simply state you liked or disliked the business - be specific.

The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked a business' products or service, but also why.

DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS!

Do not mention competing company names in your reviews. Focus on the company you are reviewing, and if you wish, leave a review about the other companies on their directory listings.

Do not comment on other reviews - respect their position and write your own, but do not argue with others.

Do not use profanity or post spiteful remarks.

Do not write a review that is less than 50 words in length. The goal of a review is to share your experiences with a particular company - very short reviews do not accomplish this.

Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or URLs.

Do not post inflammatory reviews - stop and put yourself in the shoes of the owner of the business you are posting about.

Do not post many reviews about one business. Doing this will cause all of your reviews to be deleted.

Remember, you are responsible for your words.

All-Star Gift Shop

We've never stayed at the motel, but the gift shop is very, very nice! There's a great selection of clothing (though a bit pricey), but on the other side of the store is a good variety of items. After reading the glowing reviews of the motel, we'll give it a try next time we visit Ocracoke.

Great

Very warm, friendly environment. Wonderful view of the Harbor. Location is close to everything. and the price is very affordable. If you can get a cottage room you might not leave the porch, but that is okay, it is the best sit on the island. We will stay there again on our next visit.

The hurricane honeymoon
By a Guest Reviewer
My husband and I were on our honeymoon last August and had no idea where we headed. After spending one night in Charleston, S.C., we decided to head up north along the coast and explore lighthouses. As we drove we starting seeing billboards for the Outerbanks and decided to at least take a peak.

What a pleasant surprise when we arrived in Ocracoke and stopped at the Harborside Motel. At first, we thought maybe the rates would be out of this world and we would not be able to afford it but, shortly discovered the rates were very reasonable and decided to stay.

The staff was the friendliest and most helpful I have ever come across. They went the extra mile to help their customers. We actually felt as though we had known these people forever.

Once inside the room, which overlooked the harbor, we were thrilled that we decided to make our stay in Ocracoke. We originally planned on staying in this lovely establishment for one or two nights but ended up staying a few extra days due to Hurricane Alex that came through. The staff was so helpful to us during this time. This was our first-ever hurricane. They kept us informed of the situation and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable.

Our honeymoon was definitely one that we will remember thanks to the friendly and courteous staff of the motel and Hurricane Alex. We liked it so much we plan on making this our yearly vacation destination.

We will be there again this year to celebrate our first anniversary, but perhaps just a little earlier in order to avoid the risk of another hurricane.

Relaxing, cozy, friendly atmosphere
By a Guest Reviewer
My husband and I just returned from a wonderful, relaxing vacation to the Outer Banks. We stayed for 3 nights at the Harborside Motel and enjoyed Ocracoke. The location of the Harborside Motel was very convenient as it was very close to the ferry that comes from Cedar Island and Swan Quarter. The motel is also conveniently located across the street from the harbor and is in close proximity to many shops and restaurants.

We only used our car to go up the island to a wonderful, undeveloped beached; otherwise, we just walked everywhere else from the motel. As for the staff, they were extremely friendly and helpful. They gave us great advice on restaurants and places to see! The rooms are modest but very clean and comfortable. Overall, we had an excellent and relaxing stay on Ocracoke Island at the Harborside Motel!
