Yes, it is quaint that way, it is also small and worn that way. Can't be on the Outer Banks that long and not have been flooded from time to time and battered by hurricanes.
But, with that being said, if you are a bare necessities traveler, The Dolphin will work. It's on the beach. Central to Nags Head and Manteo. It's clean, and the staff is full of southern hospitality. I once was traveling to stay here and got held up in gridlock on the Baltimore Beltway, I called the staff at The Dolphin and they accomodated my late after hours check in. Great people.
A good place all in all. Note: Not fancy at all. Just Bare Necessities.

| 1 of 1 people found this review helpful: | | I like it! | | By a Guest Reviewer | | I have been staying at the Dolphin at least once a year for about 4 years now. I love it. It really has the look and feel of Old Nag's Head (which I'm sorry I missed!) The people running it are really friendly and quick to help if there is a problem. The location is outstanding. Right on the beach. And the fact that my dog can stay with me now is great! No little shampoos or hairdryers in the wall, but plenty of clean towels and daily housekeeping. I wouldn't stay anywhere else! | |

| Not good for kids, pets or elderly | | By a Guest Reviewer | | We stayed at the Dolphin and the room had a serious mold issue. The air conditioning drained into the room. The toilet was not securely bolted to the floor. The office staff were dishonest and strait out lied to us when we had an issue. I suggest you pay in cash if you stay here and keep your receipt. | |

Overall this is a good choice if you are traveling with your pets and just need a place to sleep and shower. It's close to everything.
