Review Guidelines
Basic Review Guidelines:

Your review should focus on specific aspects of the business you are reviewing. Do not simply state you liked or disliked the business - be specific.

The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked a business' products or service, but also why.

DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS!

Do not mention competing company names in your reviews. Focus on the company you are reviewing, and if you wish, leave a review about the other companies on their directory listings.

Do not comment on other reviews - respect their position and write your own, but do not argue with others.

Do not use profanity or post spiteful remarks.

Do not write a review that is less than 50 words in length. The goal of a review is to share your experiences with a particular company - very short reviews do not accomplish this.

Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or URLs.

Do not post inflammatory reviews - stop and put yourself in the shoes of the owner of the business you are posting about.

Do not post many reviews about one business. Doing this will cause all of your reviews to be deleted.

Remember, you are responsible for your words.

Great little place!
By Sean (Holden Beach, North Carolina) on 6/12/2007
We just got back from a couple of nights in the OBX. Normally we stay in a vacation rental, but this time tried FCI - excellent choice on our part! The bedroom and bathroom were very clean (the better half cannot stand a dirty bathroom and even she commented on how clean things were). Everything is well appointed and very cozy.

We go to Nags Head quite a bit -- in the future, I think we'll extend our stay and spend a couple of nights in First Colony Inn before checking into our vacation rental!

Surprised...
By an NCBeaches Guest on 6/1/2007
What a surprise! My wife and I decided to visit Nags Head at the last minute, during Memorial Day weekend. Luckily, they had one room available, so I chose it not really expecting much. This place was extremely cozy and the exact opposite of a busy hotel. They have around 30 rooms, and everyone was very courteous. Everyone that stayed there was older, and very quiet. My wife and I were probably the youngest people there. You're about a 100 yds from the beach, and we had the pool to ourselves. Don't miss the lunch snack, it's not half bad! Their breakfast hours end a little early for my tastes, but that is hardly worth mentioning. We will be back!

The stay in this inn was a dream and the service was wonderful and I felt at home there and this is a place I would definitely would love to visit again. Everything about the place is wonderful, there is not one reason why you would not want to stay at a place like this.

First time we have been back in 3 years and WOW, what a difference makes under new management!! The stay was GREAT!! Well trained staffed, Mr Benji Hemilright is a great manager, has Inn back to its old self. Get on the mailing list, they offer great specials. Weather could have been better, only down thing about this trip. Going back in 2 months.

Wonderful!
By a Guest Reviewer
Great value and pampering! We went in the off season during the week and took advantage of the stay 2 nights get one free. We got much more than our money's worth. We arrived on Valentine's Day and they had placed complimentary chocolates, a rose, and strawberries on our bed! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They were always eager to answer our many questions. The inn was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast and afternoon snack were delicious and filling. Though not directly on the beach, it was very easy to get to many attractions from the inn. We would definitely go back!

Spoiled us completely
By a Guest Reviewer
What a place of relaxation!! This small, but big enough to be a Inn is a must stay. Get spoiled in the decor, swings, porches, ocean breeze (though not ocean front, close enough to see, smell, & hear), & HOT breakfast! The staff well trained to meet all of our needs. Overall just spoiled us. Asked if we could move inn?

A true Gem in Nags Head
By a Guest Reviewer
Pros: Couldnt have had it any better

Cons: None what so ever

This Inn, or Bed and Breakfast we just happen to run up on was the most enjoyable thing that happen to us on the last minute weekend getaway. The service by the Manager Benji was just to die for. He gave you the one on one attention that Guest need. The cleanliness of the room was spotless. We actually moved the couch in the room & found nothing. A true historic building a real gem in Nags Head. A must to go and stay.

Great Couples Getaway
By a Guest Reviewer
Pros: Stay Sunday through Thursday and you recieve a free night!

We have been visiting the First Colony Inn for 4 Years, and love it. The staff are all extremely friendly, and accomadating. The facilities are clean, quiet, and serene. You are one block from the beach with a private walk from the B and B. We found this B and B on a whim, and now we refuse to stay anywhere else in NagsHead. Well worth the price for a getaway, especially couples.
