Review Guidelines
Basic Review Guidelines:

Your review should focus on specific aspects of the business you are reviewing. Do not simply state you liked or disliked the business - be specific.

The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked a business' products or service, but also why.

DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS!

Do not mention competing company names in your reviews. Focus on the company you are reviewing, and if you wish, leave a review about the other companies on their directory listings.

Do not comment on other reviews - respect their position and write your own, but do not argue with others.

Do not use profanity or post spiteful remarks.

Do not write a review that is less than 50 words in length. The goal of a review is to share your experiences with a particular company - very short reviews do not accomplish this.

Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or URLs.

Do not post inflammatory reviews - stop and put yourself in the shoes of the owner of the business you are posting about.

Do not post many reviews about one business. Doing this will cause all of your reviews to be deleted.

Remember, you are responsible for your words.

One Minute Late
By Guest on 12/26/2012
My family was in Rodanthe visiting for Christmas vacation and my 7 year old daughter had been very sick. My husband drove her 40 minutes through the storm, one lane closures due to heavy rains, and pitch black roads that he does not know. He arrived at 6:31pm, while I was on the phone with the staff and they would not let him in to treat my daughter. they locked the door at 6:30pm. They stood inside the doorway and watched him knock on the door, they would not even come to the door nor answer the phone when he tried calling. That is the most unreasonable service, heartless, rude and very poor business as I will write a poor review for every single doctor associated with this practice. I should also mention there were other patients in there waiting to be seen, it was my third time calling to let them know they were coming and that they would arrive in one minute. They locked the doors while I was on the phone with them. They were extremely rude.

Sick on Vacation
By June N. on 11/20/2012
1 day into my vacation and I became sick. I was staying in Kitty Hawk so I went to the urgent care center there but they did not take my insurance. I drove to urgent care in Nags Head, where they gladly accepted my insurance. The waiting room was packed so I was prepared for a long wait. To my surprise, I was registered, treated and released all in under an hour. The entire staff was very friendly, and treated me like I was a regular patient of theirs and not justanother tourist. The nurse that helped me even told me that she loved working at the urgent care and woudn't goto work anywhere else. My doctor wanted me to come back the next day to be re-checked and the front office girl let me make an appointment, even though they do not make appointments for visitors and they did not charge me to come back.I wish my own doctor in Maryland teated me this good! Dr Dawson should be very proud of her office and the way she runs it! Thank you urgent care!

TERRIBLE place / do not go
By Ann N. on 10/16/2012
I went in to have an EKG done that was required before a routine surgery. I called ahead of time and they said they do them frequently and could fax to my Dr. In Richmond who wanted it at least a week prior to surgery. People were rude and not very polite but really, who cares. Then, I had the EKG during which I listened to the girl doing it complain about her life, and husband and job. When it was finished they told me to wait outside. I did. They brought me the print out, I paid the copay and left. Then, when I got home I read it. It listed five serious things on the top that were wrong with my heart and said See cardiologist immediately. I called them back. They looked at it and then said ''Yes, Dr. Sanchez says you should see a cardiologist immediately,'' I cut my vacation short and went back to Richmond and went to my Primary Care two days later. IMMEDIATELY on looking at it he KNEW the EKG was done with the leads incorrectly hooked up. He did it over in his office and my heart THANKFULLY was fine. But, three days of very high level anxiety from the report that said I was in dior need of a cardiologist had had almost none functioning ventricals and atrial enlargments that were severe. THEN< they kept billing me and tried to bill me for a cardiologist reading. My doctor said there was no way ANY doctor would not have known this was a horrible and stupid mistake on the part of the technician and especially a cardiologist. BAD BAD very poor potentially life threatening care. I have been to the hospital across the street. It was great. GO THERE PLEASE do not put yourself or loved ones at risk.

Couldn't have been better
By Chris on 8/30/2012
Easily my best experience ever at an urgent care facility. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, staff was very friendly, and competent.

Yes, I probably hit it at a good time but nonetheless...well done!

So irritating
By Guest on 6/12/2012
When my rarely-sick 4 year old went from playing happily one morning to a 103+ fever in the afternoon, we went to OB Urgent Care. The only reason I rated them 2 stars instead of one is that they were convenient, and ultimately my child received the necessary medication. Otherwise, I left feeling positively furious at the way we were treated. First of all, they have a ludicrous and unnecessary rule that only one parent may be present in the exam room with a child; my husband was banished to the waiting area to pace and worry. When I asked why, the nurse said, ''Well, with siblings and such, it can slow the doctors down.'' When I pointed out the painfully obvious (that there were no siblings with us), she replied, ''Oh, well...you know...'' No, I did not know. I soon found out. They simply did not want to be bothered with questions, and having more than one parent present I suppose leads to too many questions. We never actually saw a doctor, but rather a PA who was so condescending and dismissive that I was almost too shocked to react. She asked rapid-fire history questions, rudely interrupting me or going on to the next question before I had fully finished answering her (in many cases, with necessary medical information about my child). When I DARED ask clarifying questions of her, she rolled her eyes and talked to me like I was an idiot, which I did not appreciate. I am an educated person, but as it was a new diagnosis for my child, I had a very few perfectly logical questions to ask about the necessary medications and care. At one point this incredibly rude PA actually laughed at me when I asked her to repeat something that she had said extremely quickly. By the end, my child was bawling and I could not get out fast enough. I was too shocked to even ask to speak to a manager, but I could not let the incident pass without letting prospective patients know what they might be in for. They are the only game in town, so it's not as though you have much choice, but do not expect to be treated professionally or with respect. I was simply appalled.

Dr Coverdale was great
By Guest on 5/16/2012
While Dr Coverdale was great, the woman working the desk was totally unhelpful. She needed my medical cards printed but gave no suggestions as to how I would get this. I'm on vacation and don't pack a printer! She seemed as if she didn't want to be bothered. I presented multiple options after talking to my health care provider and finally she allowed me to log in to her computer to print off the documents. I was in tons of pain and just wish she would pretend to care. The dr was awesome and I feel better already but the support staff there is awful.

The Crud Couple May 9, 2012
By Guest on 5/7/2012
Don't know where to begin. We apologize for not remembering names, but you know who you are. Wonderful, wonderful service! From the first phone call trying to find your office to saying goodbye to everyone who helped - nicest experience going to a medical facility when feeling yucky. My husband and I had a virus and needed an antibiotic and cough medicine as we were hours away from being completely bedridden while on vacation! Katie, the RN (whose name I can't remember), Linda Coverdale and the gals at the front desk - WOW -we commend you for your promptness, friendliness, knowledge and help! We are back home now and other than an annoying cough that will last another how many weeks, we are well. A big hug to all and thank you again. If we are sick at the Outer Banks again, we will surely come see you guys!

Wonderful & Caring
By Guest on 8/19/2008
My family and I have used Dr. Sanchez and his group for several years. Each practioner that we have seen has been kind and caring. They all take the time needed to care for our needs and never make us feel rushed. The office staff is kind and professional and stay patient even when things are hectic in the office. They even return phone calls when we have questions or leave messages. I highly recommend this group for medical care on the Outer Banks.

I was glad to get help on a Saturday!
By Guest on 8/11/2008
I caught bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye) from my nephew this week at the beach. I went into the urgent care center on Saturday at 4:15 and was seen an hour later (not bad at all for a walk-in!) The staff checked me over carefully and gave me the prescriptions I needed. When I called back for advice three days later (Monday afternoon), I received a return call three hours later, and the nurse who called was very patient and helpful. I am very pleased with the level of service I received.

Dr Sanchez takes his time with you and is very friendly; you do not feel like a number and do not feel rushed. They even called me at home to check on me later in the week.

Decent away from home place
By Greg on 7/30/2007
If you do not have an appointment and/or you are not a ''regular'', then be prepared to wait 1-2 hours (during summer time) to be admitted (if it is not a life threatening visit). They will collect a $100 payment up front if they do not accept your insurance or if you don't have insurance.
The service is very professional. The doctors have good bedside manners and the nurses are good too. They don't just rush you out the door! Noone should like going to see a facility such as this while on vacation, but if you have too, this one on the outerbanks is a good one!
