Local favorite Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe, a restaurant featuring a variety of steaks and seafood, is located on the Nags Head/Manteo Causeway. Though the restaurant burned down on May 1, 2007, restaurant owners quickly rebuilt and re-opened in August 2007.
Locally caught fresh fish, crabs, clams, squid, shrimp and oysters are featured on the menu at Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe, as well as steaks from top United States beef producers and North Carolina grown pork and poultry. Vegetables are fresh from local farmers and recipes are seasoned with fresh herbs.
When you dine at Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe, you will enjoy beautiful water views of the Sound, friendly service and a relaxing atmosphere.

The food was excellent. I ordered She Crab Soup and the Yellow Fin Tuna. I must say it was a little slice of heaven. The best seafood dinner I have had in a very, very long time. Excellent!

We got there fairly early on a Friday night and it was not busy at all. Service was excellent and the food was all I had hoped for. We started with the She Crab soup and Crab Dip. There was so much crab! It was all very fresh too. We had the Crab Cakes and Stuffed Flounder for dinner. Again, a lot of fresh delicious crab. Couldn't have been better. We ordered a slice of the 16 layer Chocolate Cake for dessert. It was just okay-tasted like it came from a mix, not home made. Overall, it was an excellent meal and we highly recommend it.

The food was fresh and great and service was excellent! The new place sure looks new, but with the quality of everything and attention to detail, you can tell these are old hands doing what they do best. Sorry to hear about the death of Mrs. Basnight -- best wishes to the family.

Everyone was very happy with their food choice. The waitress was attentive & friendly. Know they have just opened & probably have things to work out yet. My main concern would be the noise level in the dining room. With all the wonderful food it's a shame to have the atmosphere of a cafeteria. We would certainly try them again.

I have not been yet but will be going as soon as possible. As a local, I recommend to everyone. It is wonderful-great food, hospitality and views.

Everything on the menu is delicious. I cannot visit the OBX without stopping to eat at the Lone Cedar. I was very disappointed to hear that it had burned down because I was at OBX this past June. I had a very hard time finding a comparable meal.

I was brought to tears when I heard it burned down. It is always awesome and I can't wait until it rebuilds!

| 1 of 1 people found this review helpful: | | down home goodness | | By a Guest Reviewer | | have visited Lone Cedar for years and after trying many other places, this one stands out as one that offers just plain old down home food. Large portions, reasonable price and great quality keep me coming back. Nothing real fancy, just down-right good. Most meals could easily be shared by two hungry adults with the addition of a salad or app. | |
