BBQ is just so-so. Small, cramped and hot if you are eating there. Get it to take out.
I have had (and made) much better smoked BBQ.

Waste of Time and Money

I made the mistake of getting my BBQ here at the Nags Head location last year on my yearly trip to The Banks. I always go to another place 20 miles North...but decided to try Sooey's...what a mistake! HORRIBLE! The staff was rudely speaking in Russian, pointing at me, and laughing! The place was smaller than a deer tick on a coon hound! I got my food, paid way too much, took it home and we ended up throwing it in the garbage. The ribs were dried out completely. The sauce was gross. The chicken was like eating sticks. This was a total waste of time and money. It goes to show that sometimes you have to stick to the best...and this was not it!

We'll be making a return trip

We stopped by the Nags Head location (right next to Kitty Hawk Kites) and we thought it was really good. We had the pork bbq sandwiches, and the sides were really good. I didn't think the prices were that bad for pretty good food. I've paid more for food that wasn't nearly this good. The service was quick too. The only negatives were that the condiment containers on the table didn't seem very clean. That's why I gave it a lower ambience rating. The building could use some fixing up too. From the pictures shown on this website the other buildings seem to be in better shape.

Could do better

Went to the Frisco location. I got the beef brisket sandwich and more than half the meat was fat. Sides (baked beans and fries) were very good. Drink cups much to small for the price. Need to get their act together and could be a good restaurant.

Not all it's cracked up to be

Don't know if we hit the Corolla site on a bad night or what, but the pork platter had no flavor whatsoever and my wife's crabcake barely had any crab meat in it at all. Not on my list for a return visit when we come back to the island.

Great for the family

We recently went to the new location in Corolla and was pleasantly surprised that not much had changed from the other one. As always the ribs and fried chicken were awesome! Much easier to get in and out with take out as well.

3 Little PIGS and tiny sides too!

We ordered the ''3 Pigs'' meal, which says it serves 10 people. The amount of meat may serve that many, but we only got 3 pints of sides and had to supplement the meal with other foods for our families of 5 adults and 5 children! Pork BBQ was good but definitely cost too much for the amount we got. Would not order again!
