Review Guidelines
Basic Review Guidelines:

Your review should focus on specific aspects of the business you are reviewing. Do not simply state you liked or disliked the business - be specific.

The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked a business' products or service, but also why.

DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS!

Do not mention competing company names in your reviews. Focus on the company you are reviewing, and if you wish, leave a review about the other companies on their directory listings.

Do not comment on other reviews - respect their position and write your own, but do not argue with others.

Do not use profanity or post spiteful remarks.

Do not write a review that is less than 50 words in length. The goal of a review is to share your experiences with a particular company - very short reviews do not accomplish this.

Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or URLs.

Do not post inflammatory reviews - stop and put yourself in the shoes of the owner of the business you are posting about.

Do not post many reviews about one business. Doing this will cause all of your reviews to be deleted.

Remember, you are responsible for your words.

Adding new reviews is currently disabled while we work on launching a new website.

THWY TOLD ME TO TAKE MY DOG AND GET OUT!!!
By Amnada Williams on 9/28/2008
My little dogs leg had been seperated from his pelvis, my mother and aunt took him to the Roanoke Island Animal Hospital, because i had to work. I called the night before we took him and they said they could not see me till the next morning. When they took the dog in he had x-rays done and we were told he would need surgery. He had the surgery involving pins being placed in his leg. I was told to bring him back in two weeks and they would remove the pins. I took him back they said it wasnt ready, they did another x-ray changed his bandage and told me to bring him back in another two weeks. I brought him back at the scheduled time i dropped him off and went to work they called me told me the pin could not come out yet and to bring him back in another two weeks. When i went to pick him up he had been there all day long and all they had done was give him and X-ray, they had not changed his bandage i had noticed two days later he was messing with his paw it was swollen and bleeding. i called the women vet after hours on her cell phone, she told me to cut a slit in the bandage by his paw and to bring him back in the next morning. At home my husband and i cut the slit and it smelled so so so bad like as if it was infected. I took him in the next morning and i talked to the man vet and told him i was very disapointed that i had left him there all day long and the only thing that was done was an x- ray. He said he was very sorry that this had happened and had looked at the x-rays and said they looked good to him and they would take the pins out, and i would not be charged. Told me i could pick him up the next day but to call that evening to see how he was doing. when i called they told me he was ready but the pins could not come out for another two weeks. This time when i went to pick him up they gave me pain medicine and antibiotics and had wraped his entire foot and leg. I took him home and then took him back 3 days shy of two weeks later, i asked if his pins could come out because i could not take him that monday due to work, The receptionist was very rude and i asked to speak with the vet. She came out and was very very rude and told me the pins could not come out yet because his leg would rot off, ''i wonder why'' and i asked how she knew without takeing and x-ray, she handed me the dog back and told me to take my dog and get out. I had no other alternative then but to take him to the SPCA where they would have to either put him to sleep or adopt him out. I could no longer deal with the stress of being pushed around and neglected by this clinic. II would never ever recomend anyone going to this clinic. They are rude and very very unprofessional. I thought vets were supposed to care about animals!!!

Bad communication and chaos.
By Guest on 6/24/2008
I have heard different stories regarding the RIAC. I personally have not been impressed. There is no feeling of compassion and everyone seems to be to busy and over tasked. You feel like you are alway being rushed and you are never sat down and told all the steps they are taking to examine your pet. Procedures such as, x-rays are done without a phone call to ask if you want it done. The rooms are not the cleanest. No, I am sorry but there is alot of room for improvement! No complaints about the groomer! Does a wonderful job.

Wonderful Animal Care!
By Christy on 6/19/2008
We first started going to Dr. Grossman with our previous dog. She had been spayed by another vet and picked up some sort of stomach illness. She was in bad shape (couldn't stand at all)and after paging the vet several times with no response we called RIAC. They saw her right away and treated her as if she'd been their patient for years. Our current Jack Russell has never been to any other vet. As a small young puppy she was bitten by a poisonous snake. Of course it was on a weekend but our call was answered right away. We rushed her in and the vet on call that weekend was awesome. He treated her and then told us what to expect over the next few days. Being so small, we were afraid she might not make it but the care she recieved helped her to recover completely. We will only take our animals to RIAC now!

By Mollie & Daisy's Mom on 4/2/2008
I just want to say that RIAC is the best! I wouldn't take my girls anywhere else. They love all the staff there and everyone is always willing to help you out no matter how busy they are and even on weekends!! Robyn & Amber(groomers)are awesome too! Highly reccommended!!

Best Ever!
By Big Al on 1/9/2008
I honestly have never been to a more compassionate and caring veterinary hospital.
The vets at this clinic will stop at nothing to help your pet. And the staff is tops too!
Dr Grossman is also a consultant for the Veterinary Information Network (VIN). With that service, a difficult case can be researched on-line Then with the asistance of other VIN consultants, your pet can be properly diagnosed and treated or referred to the proper specialist.

Incompetent and rude
By Michael Riskin on 8/2/2007
I made arrangements to board my dog at the the roanoke island animal clinic while our family vacatoned on the outer banks. We arrived at the clinic and in the parking lot our dog was atacked by a pit bull -- the dog also menaced my four year old grand-daughter. When we entered the clinic, it was acknowledged there was an awareness that this was a troubled dog with a troubled owner, who could not control the animal. The attending vet examined my dog and proclaimed that he was fine.

When we picked him up four days later he was clearly troubled and we found a laceration on his leg from the attack. We took him to our local vet who treated him with antiboiotics. I called the vet who had examined and incorectly diagnosed and treated my dog. She was rude and dismissive -- outrageous -- this is the worst clinical experience I have ever had. I have spoken with my attorney and am concidering how to appropriately respond -- use this facility with this awareness.

Friendly and Helpful
By Darcy on 6/4/2007
I lived on the Outer Banks for three years and my two golden retrievers went to the doctors at Roanoke Island Animal Clinic. At one point or another, my dogs were seen by each of the doctors at the office and it was always a good experience. Their monthly trips to Frisco were also very helpful because I lived on Hatteras Island. Would definitely recommend their services to anyone!
