I have been coming here for over fifteen years and I will never go back, once was enough!

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Low quality food at a cheap price | | By Mach on 6/12/2008 | Pro: Best prices for BBQ on the Beach. They offer Texas Brisket, where most places only offer pork. A clean restaurant that looks very new. Matt's BBQ is very good: sweet and spicy.
Cons: (1) They pass off old food for fresh. My wife ordered fried chicken, that was obviously cooked hours before and pitifully reheated. As anyone knows, fried chicken is only best when it is freshly cooked. Old fried chicken won't sell at KFC or Popeye's, and High Cotton shouldn't try to sell it either. This is a critical buisness error on their part, which will jepordize their future if they don't correct it. Suggestion: Fry the chicken to order. (2) The beef brisket plate I ordered had been cut hours (or days) earlier. We are willing to wait a little longer for higher quality food. (3) My child's PBJ plate consisted of a Smuckers ''Uncrustable'' (still in the package), an apple sauce cup (with the removable lid still attached) and a bag of potato chips. Would it kill them to have a jar of jelly and peanut butter on hand with a loaf of bread? If I want to feed my child this kind of food, we could have gone to the grocery store and stayed at home. Often restaurants overlook the children's menu, but patron's who care, also want good food for their children just as much as themselves. (4) All our food came on plastic plates. This is low rent for your dine-in customers.
Recommendation: If you want cheap food, on cheap plates at a cheap price, then High Cotton is for you.

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Excellent BBQ | | By KY Family on 5/15/2008 | | This place was a pleasant surprise. The food was excellent, price was very reasonable, food came in a timely manner too. Also, my favorite part, you MUST try the Coconut Pie. It is the BEST coconut pie I have ever had. It was so good, we went back a second time just to get the pie. | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | The Best at the Beach! | | By Narf on 4/22/2008 | We have been going to High Cotton for about 6 years for BBQ when we are on The Banks for the last 2 weeks of the summer. It is always DELICIOUS and FRESH! The Ribs fall off of the bone and the pulled pork is heavenly. I always get extra sauce for dipping and buy a bottle to take back home to PA for the year. The Best! Last year we made the BIGGEST mistake by going somewhere else...it was HORRIBLE! We threw it in the garbage and the service was terrible too! This little ''roadhouse'' - clean and bright! - is the place to go! Ignore the Rest, go for The Best! We can't wait to get back to High Cotton! | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | By Visitor from NC on 9/26/2007 | | This has to be some of the best BBQ I have ever had. These guys really know what they're doing. We had the pulled pork, ribs and fried chicken and all were excellent. The side dishes are even better. That night they had brunswick stew, collard greens and chicken and dumplings. They were better than mama's. Prices were great too-most of the entrees were around $10. Service was friendly and the location is close to everything. Highly recommended. | |
