Captain Frank's has attained legendary status on the Outer Banks for their variety of hot dogs and and friendly service. You can choose from over six speciality creations of hot dogs including foot longs, quarter pounders and the popular Chicago Dog. This local eatery also offers barbeque. During the summer, steamed shrimp, another speciality, is served nightly. They are open for lunch and dinner daily Memorial Day through Labor Day. During the off season, Captain Frank's is open every day for lunch except Sunday.

Best Lunch on The Beach.

Great stop after a day on the beach. Friendly college kids quickly serve up all beef hot dogs, any style. My fave is the junkyard: homemade chili, cheese, coleslaw, kraut, relish, onions, mustard and ketchup. DELICIOUS! Steamed Shrimp at night are just as good as any seafood restaurant. Great meal, time after time!

The hog dog chili is really good,
get what you want but the 'Texas'
is excellent....chili,yellow mustard,onions on a fresh bun.

The employees work hard to please you.

Despite what some of these tourists think, Captn Franks is AWESOME. If you're looking for an insanely awesomely greasy lunch, this is the place! Come get your foot long!

KYFamily- what do you expect from a fast food hot dog stand? This must be your first time, hah.

Remeber it is a hot dog joint 1st and foremost. I have had some of the best from NY, NY dirty water dogs to LA, CA Pinks and 100's more in between. Captain franks ranks right up there. You get good, fast sercice (even during their buisy times). There is a dog for every one. A simple katchup and mustard dog to a fully loaded footlong junkyard dog. It is the only place to get a dog in the OBX area.
Captain Frank's I will see you again in the Fall.

The food was awful. Cheese dogs were awful, mad dogs were awful, fries were dry and flavorless. Very disappointing.Not to mention, gave us ALL Awful stomach aches.

OBX Classic

Perennial favorite for familes looking for a bargain dinner. Famous for franks, but shrimp are outstanding and fried food is as good as anyplace on the OBX. Staffed by college kids, service is friendly and fast. Sit outside, and enjoy the traffice whizzing by on RTE 158 for the complete experience

We Love Capt'n Franks

The only time we have been to OBX we tried this place. It was sooooo good that we went back three or four more times. The last time we were there, they said ''See you tomorrow!'' Sadly we had to tell them that we were leaving for home the next morning. We are coming back in Sept. and cannot wait for our day(s) at Capt'n Franks!!!

An Annual MUST!

Every year we go to the Outer Banks and every year we ALWAYS go to Captain Franks. We love the Chicago-style dogs and the cheese fries are delicious. If you like hot dogs and a relatively cheap meal, you MUST try food from the Captain!

You have to try this place--it is a must do on the OBX. Kids and grown ups will both love it. Hot dogs every way you can imagine. Fun stop
