| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Fantastic and consistent | | By R & J on 12/17/2007 | | My wife and I have been visiting the Outer Banks for years. We have to say that Mako Mike's is, by far, one of our favorite restaurants for a multitude of reasons. The staff has always been friendly, the menu has plenty of cuisine options, and the prices are inline with the other venues in the area. I tend to lean towards the surf and turf specials, while my wife almost exclusively orders the crab legs. The kitchen is quite accommodating of special requests (they have a FANTASTIC bearnaise sauce that they occasionally serve with steaks or grilled mushrooms). We also enjoy the ''bread experiments''. It seems that the chefs like to work on recipes for different types of spice breads or vegetable breads that are served before the meal. Some are a bit odd (zucchini + whole grain?), while others are quite tasty (sweet potato spice). The decor is a bit gauche, mainly consisting of bright blue and pink pastels, but it doesn't really detract from the dining experience. If you're looking for a quality dining experience on the Outer Banks, give Mako Mike's a try! | |

| Disappointed | | By Family on 8/7/2007 | | We went expecting great seafood. We were disappointed in the portions. The appetizer (crab dip) was extremely small, enough for 2 people and was about $10. The presentation of food was average, at best. We spent a lot of money on a dinner that didn't meet our desires. The service wasn't horrible, and nothing stood out as terrible, but there are so many other great restaurants in the area to choose from. | |
