The waiter, Joey was so awesome. His friendly & humerous personality was a great way to end the day. He was very knowledged in the LARGE selection of wines and his recommendations were very pleasing. I highly recommend the pesto scallop dish! It was truly remarkable. For dessert, we could not pass on the hurricane. WOW! I would definitely go again.

We have never had a bad meal. The oysters used to be on the menu and we were crazy about them. They were the best fried oysters I have ever had. I love the Hurricane for dessert. It's to die for. We are hooked on the flying fish.

My family dined together and enjoyed the wonderful wine selection, excellent seafood and stellar waitstaff. We will definitely return.

| Ditto | | By Nikki on 10/17/2007 | | Uncomfortable and unaccommodating. Pretentious and it would not surprise me if the host in the previous post was the owner--I knew him years ago--we worked together for a couple of years and when I saw him a year and a half later, he pretended he did not know me...gimme a break...so many GOOD restaurants on the OBX, don't waste your money here! | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Ambiance: | | | No hospitality | | By Tim on 8/27/2007 | | I had a 7 pm reservation at Flying Fish last week. Traffic on part of the bypass was rerouted to the beach road at that time due to an accident. Traffic was slow. We didn't arrive until 7:20. We lost our table and the maitre d' was matter of fact in stating he gave our table away and could not accommodate us. This is one of the few instances where we have experienced other then warm hospitality from a restaurant or retail personnel on the Outer Banks. | |

We dined at Flying Fish with another couple. Two of us had the shrimp bisque which was not only HEAVILY salted, but caused me to break out in hives and gave us both food poisoning. Our friend ordered the filet mignon. Though it was requested medium well, it showed up at our table rare. It was sent back twice and eventually, we gave up!
Not only was the food pitiful, but the service was too. We were seated in the back corner (what the hostess referred to as the ''rowdy room,'' even though we were two married couples ...) and eventually acknowleged fifteen minutes later by our waitress. When we were finally served our meals, my husband's plate did not come with the rest of the table's; instead, our waitress served three of us, proceeded to take another table's order, serve ANOTHER table, and finally realize that we were waiting for his meal after we had to get up from the table to get her attention. At that point, our food was cold.
To top off our evening, the dessert we requested at the beginning of the meal (it is frozen and needs to thaw) still came to the table - you guessed it - frozen! We obviously were not a priority that evening.

Best on the beach! | |

They spent more time writing up the 10 word meun titles, than improving the food. NYC prices with trailer park food. Never again!

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Fabulous Salmon | | By a Guest Reviewer | | We had a group of 16 there and every one of us loved our meal. I had the most amazing Ginger Seared Salmon with Wasabi Cream Sauce served over Asian slaw. I thought I'd died and gone to Heaven! On top of that, our waitress was attentive, good-humored and fast. We go to Flying Fish every time we visit the Outer Banks. | |

If you want good food, poor service and a manager with an attitude, here?s the place for you. While dining with a group of colleagues in town for a business trip we went to this restaurant, after the waitress confused the bills for two tables we called the manager over to help straighten out the bills, he threw a menu in front of me on the table, leaned down and said loud enough for the other patrons of this establishment to hear, let me get a pencil and piece of paper for you its obvious you haven't been to college! Then he threatens to call the police. No one said they would not pay the bill we just wanted the correct bill for our table. I'm always on the side of waitresses and waiters. You see my mother was a waitress who worked double shifts and eventually owned the restaurant. She did not do it by treating her patrons like this. Don't go there.

| What a great surprise.. | | By a Guest Reviewer | | So nice to have a restaurant with a perfect dessert,The steaks here (filet) are to die for w/the brie cheese melted on top, please treat yourself to a wonderful app. like our favorite, the calimari is the best on the beach, really it is.Ive tried 8 other restaurants cali and they dont compare, and back to the desserts, leave room for the world famous(soon to be famous) chocolate hurricane, about 9 bills but you never had a desset like this b4.Service is on time ,not to bothersome but there for you when your glass is empty or your plate is cleared, just great service. You dont need a bank loan to eat here but 2 adults will total near $80-100,but worth it.5 stars here | |

Huge filet mignon perfectly cooked also Grouper with Lump Crab & Hollindaise. Chocolate Hurricane for dessert was decidant. Lots of great wines on list. A-1 restaurant

| You won't regret it | | By a Guest Reviewer | | Dinner at the Flying Fish has been a tradition for my husband and I since 2000 when it was first recommended by a friend who has had a vacation cottage in Nags Head for nearly 20 years. We compare every place we eat with the Flying Fish and refer to a truly stellar dish as something ''worthy of being served at the Flying Fish''. The dishes are always tasty and we are never disappointed with the quality of our meal. | |
