| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Less than mediocre | | By Guest on 6/17/2012 | | I spent $40 for undercooked Crab Imperial, sweet tea and a salad. Tea was a bit too sweet, hushpuppies tasted old - liked they'd been cooked with old corn meal, and weren't fresh anyway. The veggies were ok, rice was ok. Not a good experience - in fact, I wish I had not eaten there at all. Service was fine but not exceptional. Waitress recommended crab imperial, said diners raved about it. it was not well cooked, and had a weak flavor. | |

| Service: | | | | Kill Devil Hills Location | | By Guest on 9/27/2011 | Extremely over priced, food was fair to poor, service was Ok. Ate there before with my oldest daughter and her husband sometime ago, the food was very, very good and the service was excellent. Same location! That is why I wanted to treat my younger daughter and her boyfriend to a good seafood dinner. But this summer it was entirely different. The food was just not good. We ordered three different meals. Only one was fit to eat. Thank heavens there was plenty of food on my plate and it did taste fair. I split portions on their bread plates( hush puppies were good) and a good thing I did, since our waitress did not return to our table until we were practically finished. We split that one meal up between the three of us and the other two full plates were left on the table. During the meal we noticed that other diners were leaving a lot of food on their plates when they left their table, so we realized maybe it wasn't just our food selection. When the waitress presented the bill, she looked at the plates and said, '' You didn't like it.'' I said, '' no they didn't''. She made no apology for the food nor offered to make any adjustments to the bill. We paid for our meals and tipped the waitress well, her service was at least satisfactory. I treat people the way I would like to be treated, whether I receive good service or not. The meal we ate was $18.99, but I ended up paying over $95.00 for the entire dinner, including the tip. I was shocked. We just had 2 cokes and 1 water with the meal. No desert. Sorry to say this experience left us not willing to go there again. PS: They must have changed their cooks. Food was presented well on the plate, but just didn't taste good. That is so miss leading and disappointing. Actually looked good. I can not in good faith recommend Dirty Dicks as having good food any more to my friends. I a must admit before I was telling friends and family, you have to try to their food, it's delicious. But that was then, and this is now. Not a good idea. Things may change, but COST TOO MUCH to find out. I wouldn't go there again. Like all businesses each DD has different cooks and mgmt,so please do not judge another DD location by this review alone. It would not be fair and you could miss out on some good food.
With my daughter and her husband it was about $58 total bill and we had so much good food we couldn't eat it all. And it wasn't that long ago. That's sad.

The food was mediocre at best and the atmostphere was kinda cheesy. The best part of the dinner was the waitress... she was friendly but not very knowlegeable about the menu. Don't waste your money.

They had now inside seats so we had to sit outside in a screen porch with ripped screen. They took forever to bring up our food and when they did it was expensive and over and under cooked. Not recommended by anyone who went with me and my family.

| 3 of 4 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Charlotte | | By Charlotte on 11/7/2008 | The only reason to go here is because you are surrounded by a bunch of teenage boys who want to buy T shirts. I had to chuckle as they had to decide who was getting what color etc, something you don't see with boys very often. Our food was fair, the service was okay but it is overpriced and I would not recommend it for dinner. If you must go for lunch then it won't hurt the pocketbook. | |

| 3 of 3 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | We won't be recommending | | By Guest on 9/30/2008 | Hungry at 1pm on 9/29/08: My first stop was the ladies room. Not nice and leave it at that. Besides being way over priced, The service was 1/4 step above the food. The crab cake had no taste at all. I even removed it from the but and put old bay on it attempting to get some sort of a seafood taste. The Rockfish patties had a horrible taste and did not seem cooked all of the way. The side of beans appeared to be Baked beans mixed with lima beans and topped with what looked like chives. The clam chowder had to be flavored with old bay to have any taste at all. We definitely would not recommend to anyone nor will we ever return. Oh yes. Can't forget about the burnt but yet greasie hushpuppies either! | |

Ate there with appetizers and dessert for about $65.00, food was good, nothing spectacular. Went back later in the week for drinks at the bar----very expensive, bartender was none too friendly, considering we were the only patrons around. Would go back for dinner, as it is a chain, and fairly cosistent. Again, nothing spectacular.

| 2 of 3 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | They suck | | By Autumn on 8/10/2008 | | I was on vacation and our family went to DD's for lunch. They were slow with their service, we sat for 20 minutes before our drink order was taken, another 20 before she came back to take our order. By the time we left we had been there for 2 hours. I had a fried flounder and shrimp combo w/ tea and it cost me $28. The first piece of fish they brought me had absolutely no meat on it and it was hard as a rock. There were only 5 pieces of shrimp (same as the kids menu). I paid $28!!! It was not worth the money. They brought me a second piece of fish that had more meat to it (not burnt) but honestly it still was not worth that price. We saw the ad for this place in a magazine and it said something about an award! Don't believe it, they're over priced and horrible food. | |

| 2 of 2 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Disappointed With Dick | | By Debbie on 7/23/2008 | | Have been to DD's in past approximately 6 years ago, All I can say is ''What happened?'. The food was passable and certainly not worht the money we paid to eat. We were seated next to the men's bathroom whichsmelled and then seated next to the womwn's bathroom...not much better. I won't return on our next trip. In one word ..Overpriced | |

| 2 of 3 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Overrated! | | By Mindy on 7/4/2008 | | In the past few years this place has gone into the dump! I noticed the rating and realized that even Taco Bell rated better than Dirty Dick's. Now THAT'S sad! I won't return again -- too risky considering the potential of getting food poisoning! (Saw a waiter reach in the garbage can and pull out unused condiments -- YUK! No wonder they have the rating they do!) | |

Great food and service. Some of the dishes are a little pricey, but not horrible. Last time I was there, I tried the She-crab soup...DELICIOUS! Will definitely re-visit next time we're one the island.

| 2 of 2 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | By Tommy on 5/22/2008 | | Read the negative reviews, but the people I was with still wanted to go. Not much to my surprise the food was horrible. The prices where also ridiculous, I would not have minded them so much if the food was good, but alas it wasn't. I would not recommend this place at all. | |

My husband and I always get the trinity plater. We love it!! Seafood is fresh, atmosphere is relaxed, tee-shirts and flip flops welcomed! It's a great hangout. We are headed to OBX in July and we can't wait to spend some time at DD. Oh and the Bread Pudding is to die for!!!

The service was a bit slow but they were packed, a sure sign of good food and a fun time. We will save room for your Bread Pudding for desert, YUM!

| 1 of 2 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Disappointing | | By Paul on 4/10/2008 | Food is ok. We arrived 5mins after the lunch rates (3:05pm)so dinner is it was. 3 fried plates 2 waters and 1 iced tea and tip, $70.00. We should have walked out when we saw how confusing the menu was, but,we were hungry and thought the food would be better than it was. It wasn't terrible but certainly not up to the prices. We will not be back. | |

| 2 of 3 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Decent Food | | By Natalie on 9/4/2007 | | We thought the food was pretty good - ate there for lunch one day. Husband said the Wahoo was fantastic. Crabcake sandwich just so-so. Service was good the day we were there although the management was having a run-in with customers who were evidently walking out on the bill. Always nice to have a little drama with your meal. LOL. Would probably go back. | |

We loved it. | | By Ned on 8/8/2007 | | We went to the new location at Hatteras Marina. View was great...restaurant was clean, busy, friendly. The food very good. I had scallops medallian. Outstanding! Service was very good. We were seated close to the kitchen door, and was able to watch the entree's coming out to tables. What a presentation! I didn't think prices were too bad, considering the area and timing of our stay. We are looking forward to returning in the fall for more great food.

First time got crabs that were water bogged. Second time, they DIDN'T EVEN HAVE crabs and the waitress didn't know until after our drinks were served!
