There's a reason for that,... David and his mate will work their tails off making sure everyone in your party has a great day! And the Godspeed is a comfortable, fish-catching machine. Even when the fishing is not the best, David will work even harder to find them. Our parties have been very fortunate through the years and I can't imagine fishing with anyone else. Of course, considering that I caught and released a sailfish and blue marlin the last two trips, how could I complain! It was a blast! I can't wait to go again!

My wife caught her first sailfish and her first white marlin with David! If you want to learn more about blue water big game fishing David and Justin are both very knowledgeable and patient! We've fished on his last two boats and we look forward to fishing on the Godspeed once again next year! Thanks for the memories!

I have been fishing for 30 years. I can not remember an offshore trip with 60+ fish in the boat! This was my son's 14th birthday and it was a fantastic trip.
My son will never let me live down the ''one that got away!''...... I am little scared by the time he is my age I will have lost Moby Dick!
You and Justin did a great job.
It made up for all the times we have floated around and all we got was sun burned!
May safe returns, fair weather and good fishing bless you.
We'll be back.
regards,
Brent Smith | |

We would go on the Godspeed again. Thanks, and sorry Captain for the money confusion (you know what I mean).

| 2 of 3 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | | | ''pure fishing joy!'' | | By a Local Guest on 10/17/2007 | | ''Pure fishing joy''...promised and delivered. The party I went with caught 3 sailfish, 26 dolphin, & 1 triple tail. Nothing to complain about there. Capt. Dave worked hard to find the fish, and seemed genuinely happy each time he found them for us. Jay, the Mate, impressed us all with his mad mate skills. Both were so pleasant and respectful. Throw in the perfect weather that we had, & I couldn't imagine enjoying a day off shore more than I did on the Godspeed. If I ever get the chance to go out again, I hope it's on this boat with these guys. | |

Dave about 4 years ago on the dock as he was answering some fishing questions. Anyway, our private boat could not handle all the fishermen and women our family had grown into. The Godspeed was our first choice, and a good one it turned out.
If you go back to June of 2006 and look the title ''lot of bull'', you will see our first trip and this year on 6/11,12,14/07 you will see a lot of fish our family were blessed with. The trip on the 14th was unbelievable -- the sea was alive with the birds dropping out of the sky after bait. The gaffer dolphin were gorging thereselves on and we were in the middle of this show. Capt. Dave had put us in fishing heaven, and his mate Jay worked his tail off to make sure we caught as many of these big gaffers as possible. If you have never bailed gaffers, I highly recommend it as one of the top fishing adventures in the world.
If you want to go fishing with someone that will try everything in his power to put you in fish, and treat you with kindness and respect, Capt. Dave and mate Jay are your men.

Dolfin till we said how am I going to get all those fish back to Atlanta. The mate said do you want to try something else. Sure you guy's are driving. Eli caught a large Wahoo between the two of us we caught 3 white marlins and a couple of large Gaffer Dolfin. All of this video was taken by a good friend of the Godspeed Mike. We had the time of our life was treated with kid gloves. It was worth all the money. If you want to see our catch look up July 25 2006. we have the proff all went well in living color

I have fished with other Captains on Hatteras and I would rate Capt. Dave and Mate Jay Daniels as the best on the East Coast. They care about you and your needs and they both love to catch fish unlike other charters that just want the money. Can't wait until the next fishing trip. As for the 5/11-5/12 guest, by looking at your fishing pictures you have nothing to complain about and should be thankful for the catch you had. Or, maybe you should just sit in front of the TV and watch fishing and this way you would not have to do anything. I don't know what your tip was but you should always tip the mate at least 15% of what the charter cost is. Again, can't wait to go fishing again Capt. Dave and Mate Jay.

| Value: | | Service: | | | | Wow! What a lot of fish! | | By JustBeachy on 6/14/2007 | I had the best charter fishing experience of my life. What a great time fishing with Captain Dave. I found out that he has been fishing the Outer Banks waters his whole life. Maybe that's how he knew exactly where to take us. The water was crystal clear and we could see the fish running along side the boat. We caught an enormous amount of fish and Dave and his first mate were fantastic.
We're looking forward to going again. See ya soon Capt Dave!

I have accompanied my husband and friends fishing with Capt. Dave on the Godspeed several times. One of the times, the weather, wind and waves did not cooperate as I would have prefered, but guess what. Not only did we catch fish, the mate and Captain seemed to suspect my concerns, they also saw to it that they were eased and for that I am grateful. I have been on trips that those concerns would have been thrown to the seas like the business end of the fishing line. Captain Dave, we found you, we will continue to book with you and we wish you ''Godspeed''! See ya in September.

| Value: | | Service: | | | | Ol' North Wind May 14th | | By Guest on 6/13/2007 | I've been fishing with Captain Dave for over 10 years and have always had a great trip. This year was no different. Even with 2 guys sea sick, my son's first trip, but he still realed them in. The most fun I had was catching a very large dolphin on a bailing rod. What a blast!! 580 lbs caught in 2 days. Back home at our Club we had a fish fry and everyone enjoyed our catch. Yum yum!
So fish on the Godspeed, you won't be sorry. Thanks Captain Dave, and Jay. See ya next year! Ken

Most only post to get business, but Dave really cares about sharing his trips. (Pay attention, post usually within a couple hours of trips!) Many of my friends have fished with him, and this year my wife asked if we could make the trip from Florida for our 10th anniversary. (Guys wish you could be so lucky!) Dave see ya' around October.

I won't fish with any other captain in North Carolina. Dave will always be my Captain of choice.

| 3 of 4 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | | | By GUEST 5/11 AND 12 on 6/6/2007 | | Good fishing but as the customer, we did alot of work ourselves... baiting hooks, washing off deck and retrieving bait from front of boat. The charter price was established prior to our trip and the rate was raised without our knowledge. The captain also was asking for more monies for his first mate and took one of our catch without properly asking. Again, the fishing was excellent but the arrogance of the Godspeed captain will send us to another charter. | |
Response:
On the Godspeed we encourage party participation. Most people enjoy being involved, and it allows my mate to be more productive with a littl added help. It is however fine, if you prefer not to help, simply say so. This may come as a shock, but fuel costs are rising. My website clearly states that prices are subject to change due to this. Fifty bucks doesn't seem like much to me, and there were no complaints after the trips.
My website also informs you as to what is a customary tip for my mate. I didn't beg for more money, I simply asked if he had offended you in any way. When the reply was "no, he was great", I thought you would want to do right by him. The first day's tip was his lowest of the year. And finally, with as much fish as you had on the second day, I never would have imagined that one small dolphin would have been missed. I guess I didn't say please. Sorry. I see you have been keeping up with my fishing reports though. Thanks!
