Village Marina, Motel & Campground: 11am to 2pm music and awards following. Hatteras Island Chowder Cook Off is an annual event where professional and home cooks square off to win bragging rights till the next year. It's not all the usual island style chowder. Some cooks get pretty creative introducing other seafood species and ingredients. We invite you to come and enjoy a splendid display of talent and taste. All proceeds raised from the Cook-Off benefits the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation. This event is 100% volunteer. The event includes, chowder tasting & judging, raffle and music. $6.00 donation gets you in the door!

Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum: Ryan Bradley is documenting the archeology and historical and cultural influences of whaling practices that occurred along the North Carolina coast. He will be available September 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to document your family photos, stories or artifacts that are related to North Carolina whaling. The East Carolina University graduate student is attempting to catalog artifacts, record stories and meet with descendants of whalers from the Outer Banks for his master thesis project. The public is invited to join him for this free event.
