Established in 1978, the Quarterdeck has been serving Hatteras Islanders for nearly a quarter of a century. This is a locally owned, casual, family-oriented restaurant specializing in seafood (try the crab cakes and stuffed flounder), char-grilled steaks and homemade desserts. Dinner prices are reasonable. A kids' menu, beer and wine are available.

Review Guidelines
Basic Review Guidelines:

Your review should focus on specific aspects of the business you are reviewing. Do not simply state you liked or disliked the business - be specific.

The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked a business' products or service, but also why.

DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS!

Do not mention competing company names in your reviews. Focus on the company you are reviewing, and if you wish, leave a review about the other companies on their directory listings.

Do not comment on other reviews - respect their position and write your own, but do not argue with others.

Do not use profanity or post spiteful remarks.

Do not write a review that is less than 50 words in length. The goal of a review is to share your experiences with a particular company - very short reviews do not accomplish this.

Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or URLs.

Do not post inflammatory reviews - stop and put yourself in the shoes of the owner of the business you are posting about.

Do not post many reviews about one business. Doing this will cause all of your reviews to be deleted.

Remember, you are responsible for your words.

Adding new reviews is currently disabled while we work on launching a new website.

i love it
By barbara on 2/10/2009
for the last 4 years we have been going to outer banks.was told about this resturant a bout 2 years ago and now it is my favorite place to eat.the crab appetizer is wonderful and so are the people. I love the fried scallops and they seem so much better there. I never found the food greasy or the service bad. The service is great considering how busy the place stays. love it will return again and again, keep up the great work.

Best Crab Bisque Anywhere! Period
By Bill on 11/16/2008
After passing by this place many times over the years I tried last year with my family and was pleasantly surprised by the food service and ambience of the place. Ate there twice and loved it both times.

Wonderful
By Guest on 8/30/2008
We visit Cape Hatteras at least once a year, and we always go to Quarterdeck as soon as possible and probably more than once. I love the scallops, and my husband is always satisfied with the daily catch. The servers and everyone are friendly and make sure the meal is good. And I must say that we loved the crab cakes!

Great food and service
By Mr Abdo (Frisco, North Carolina) on 8/7/2008
Have been coming here since the early 80's. Mr Ochs does a great job with the food. Great Crab cakes I have no idea what the other guy is expecting, but every one has an opinion.
REAL local seafood at a realistic price. Family (9 people) ate for 178 dollars and were served quick. Try the key lime pie hime made and best on the island ( tart like it is supposed to be)

Worst crab cakes ever
By Ries on 8/2/2008
The crab cakes were greasy (even though I ordered them broiled) and full of filler. I guess if you like greasy deep fried seafood this place might be appealing, but I left feeling a bit nauseated. The green beans were nasty (mushy and over-cooked) and the potato salad was mediocre. The Hatteras chowder was okay and the wings were okay. This is one place I wish we had skipped.

Best Crab Cakes Ever
By Ann on 5/15/2008
I have been going to Hatteras for 7 years. It is the 1st restaurant I go to. The crab cakes are the best I have ever eaten, and I get crab cakes everywhere they're on the menu. Their shrimp and catch of the day are also great.

Hostess didn't have a clue. Waitress was so busy she was ready to pull her hair out. Food was OK but I will try other places on my next visit.
