| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Finally Stopped in | | By Starkey on 8/19/2008 | | After being down in Duck a number of times we finally ventured in for their Awesome BLT as advertised on their semi-hidden billboard. The BLT was as good as advertised. Lots of thick and crispy bacon and great toasted bread. The Mahi salad with Wasabi dressing was my best meal since vacationing there. Keep it up and look forward to going when we return. | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | Wine List: | | | | Restaurant perfection | | By Skopy on 7/14/2008 | | We dropped by the Roadside the first year they opened, and come back every year. The food, decor and the vibe are just first-rate. I have travelled all over North America, Europe and the Caribbean and this is still my favorite restaurant. | |

| Service: | | Food: | | Ambiance: | | | Our new favorite | | By Vstrom on 6/30/2008 | | We stumbled upon this place last October after seeing it for years. Dinner was fantastic. We usually eat at another place across the street but found the food here to be just as good and not as expensive. I hope when we return, the new chef I here about has returned to the way it was. | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | Wine List: | | | | By FJ and CT on 4/8/2008 | | We have been enjoying the Roadside for over seven years without complaint---until our last visit on 4/5/08 we were dissapointed with the new chef's heavy-handedness of butter and seasonings---three courses of wonderful seafood smothered in rich, heavy sauces was just too much and the garlic mashed potatoes had an artificial something flavor ???! We can understand a new chef's desire to put his ''stamp'' on the dishes he is preparing but, as the old saying goes---''if it isn't broke.....'' | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | Wine List: | | | | Time To Move On | | By DrWalterG on 3/5/2008 | Let me begin by saying that my wife, children and I have enjoyed our family getaways to Duck, NC for quite some time now. We have always included lunch and/or dinner at 'The Roadside' as part of our Outer Banks experience. Unfortunately though, I have noticed that the overall dining quality at this establishment has diminished over our last several visits. I am not one to claim to be a food critic, but I will tell you that it is in no way as good as it once was. Beside the fact that the food has become unapproachable and bland, the overall condition of this 'restaurant' is questionable. Upon our arrival, we found the parking lot behind the restaurant to be unlit and somewhat dangerous, leaving us to navigate our way inside through the unstable footing of oyster shells and gravel. As we entered, my wife pointed out to me that the health department rating posted had deteriorated over our last several visits. Perhaps it was the faint scent of cat urine in the building or the dust covered knick-knacks on the shelves that earned them this score. The wine list is predictable and uninspired, but the service staff that presents it is, and has always been fantastic. The waiters at 'The Roadside' are the only part of the dining experience that has been enjoyable and consistent recently. Unfortunately, I believe that it is time for us to move on and find a new family dining tradition next time we come down to visit. | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Ambiance: | | | Never Disappointed | | By Todd on 2/23/2008 | | This is the best lunch spot in Duck. It is amazing that a kitchen of that size can turn out so much wonderful food. I am not really into wine but I like upsale brews and they do not disapoint. I highly recommend the fish sandwich or the meat loaf for lunch. Service is fast, thoughtful and friendly. Please open one up in my other hometown of Fenwick Island. | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | Wine List: | | | | The best Duck has to offer | | By Semi-regular on 2/8/2008 | | The Roadside was the best kept secret in Duck until recently. Their selections are limited but every entree is either very good or great, depending on your own personal tastes. Shrimp & Grits and the Roadside Chicken Salad are 2 appetizers that together become more than a meal. I strongly suggest you try the special, particularly if it is fish. The servers and cooks are pleasant, competent and professional. Staff turnover is very very low - we have seen the same faces year after year. Their wine list is limited but their selections are generally good. You could run up a bill here if you enjoy an appetizer, entree, desert and Roadside coffee as well...but it will be worth it! Oh - hold out and sit upstairs but be prepared to wait. | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | Wine List: | | | | Over the top scallops | | By Lynn on 10/21/2007 | | We found the Roadside Cafe just this year. Small, intimate dining, you kmow it by all of the locals. Eat in the bar area near the kitchen or out on the porch for a real OBX feeling. The scallop salad is over the top with flavor - order two servings. The green mussels rocked. It was good stuff. Be prepared to wait some for the service but it's worth the wait - as our surfer/server/beach bum says - ''they kill it here.'' We returned for a second night. | |

It's small, but if you get a seat at the bar you can watch the chef cook, which is fun. They have excellent food for lunch, and a variety of seating (i.e bar, booth, outside). They also have the best crab cake sandwiches available on OBX. I also recommend any of their charred fish sandwiches. | |
