Review Guidelines
Basic Review Guidelines:

Your review should focus on specific aspects of the business you are reviewing. Do not simply state you liked or disliked the business - be specific.

The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked a business' products or service, but also why.

DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS!

Do not mention competing company names in your reviews. Focus on the company you are reviewing, and if you wish, leave a review about the other companies on their directory listings.

Do not comment on other reviews - respect their position and write your own, but do not argue with others.

Do not use profanity or post spiteful remarks.

Do not write a review that is less than 50 words in length. The goal of a review is to share your experiences with a particular company - very short reviews do not accomplish this.

Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or URLs.

Do not post inflammatory reviews - stop and put yourself in the shoes of the owner of the business you are posting about.

Do not post many reviews about one business. Doing this will cause all of your reviews to be deleted.

Remember, you are responsible for your words.

Adding new reviews is currently disabled while we work on launching a new website.

Rudeness Beyond Acceptance
By an NCBeaches Guest on 9/21/2008
We (a party of 7 - 3 couples/1single - all adults) dined at GiGi's Italian restaurant the week of September 13-20, 2008, while vacationing in Pine Island. I just read another review that described and had resemblance to our biggest complaint of the evening. We all thought our meals were delicious. I had the Veal Piccata and thought it was wonderful so when I read a very negative review from someone else on that dish, I figure the kitchen staff must have honed their skill in preparing it (luckily for me). We also agreed that the prices for the meals were comparable to others of that caliber restaurant.

The one thing we thought was very expensive, however, were the mixed drinks, in particular a Classic Mojito at $14 each. As White Rum (the liquor in that drink) is a moderately priced liquor as opposed to a premium gin or vodka, and the fact that some of us make them all the time, we thought it was outrageously priced. Also, the overall service was slow, and one of the meals was delivered to our table more than 5 minutes after all the other meals were delivered with no mention it was coming - not good organization but we dealt with it (especially the person affected).

In the beginning, we also asked for separate checks (broken down by couple) but were denied that - have never had that problem in more upper scale and lower scale restaurants but we accepted that too. Again, think that was due to poor organization from the staff. But, the 'coup de grace' was when, after getting the bill, we questioned the price of the Mojitos and mentioned the inconvenience of having to break down the bill, that we asked to see the manager. The description from the negative review I had read, that I previously mentioned, was almost to the tee (no pun intended). He was in shorts and tee shirt - assuming he was the manager. He stood his position on the price of the Mojito, which we accepted even though we did not agree, but his rudeness was such that I am amazed they are still in business. A good manager would have patiently listened to his patrons and maybe softened the complaint by making compensation on one of the drinks or maybe a dessert. Instead, he told us to ''pay our bill and ............leave.''

With so many other fine restaurants in that part of the Outer Banks where you are treated with the respect due you, why would we opt for GiGi's. Needless to say, we will not be returning. (And, oh by the way, we did not storm the kitchen to make our complaint heard!)

Overpriced and Mediocre
By Debbie on 7/27/2008
This was a very expensive and disappointing meal. Food and service are just average. We've had better Italian food at chain restaurants! Menu is very limited - the only person who left satisfied was our 8-year-old who loved the chocolate Gelato! Try some place else!

Disappointing!

We tried Gigi's last week based on the reviews listed here. The service was terrible (we had to ask for bread and water refills).Portions were very small and very overpriced. Our party had to go out for ice cream after, because we were still hungry.

Just Incredible
By ben stiley on 2/11/2008
The new owners sure do have thier act together! everything was definitly 5 star. Food defines traditional and coastal Italian! The wine list is broken down by regions of Italy wich is helpful and very reasonably priced. The service could not have been any better! We were with 2 children and they still managed to treat us like a fine dining table! BRAVO!
