Back Country Outfitters & Guides offers a variety of outdoor tours and adventures that you can enjoy during your Outer Banks vacation. Choose between guided off-road 4-wheel drive tours, kayak tours and more! Something for everyone in your family.

We offer the Wild Horse Safari - A 2-hour Off-Road journey to see the wild ''Spanish Mustangs'' left behind by early explorers almost 500 years ago. We tour 16,000 acres of beach, dune and back country on this 30 mile excursion in large family SUV's to discover the true nature, history and shorelife of the Outer Banks. Small groups and families up to eight can go on this informative eco-journey. Tours are daily by appointment.

We were so impressed with Back Country ! We did the 4wd tour, and loved it. They were very accommodating to our large group (11 people, including 4 kids ranging in age from 3-8). Our guide, Andrew, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and fun, and most importantly, he was extremely patient with my overly inquisitive 8 year old son! We saw several wild horses, and 1 snake (which Andrew ran to pick up to show my boys). We plan on returning next spring to go kayaking!
