The Orange Blossom is a Hatteras Island favorite for breakfast. Everyone loves the Apple Uglies, pastries, homemade biscuits, bagels, croissants and breakfast sandwiches. Breakfast is served from 7 until 11:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday, but the pastries can go fast so get there early. Orange Blossom also serves organic coffees and espresso. The little building that houses the bakery is more than 50 years old and was once the Orange Blossom Motel, named for orange trees that grew on the property.

Don't discount the donuts either, my husband is not a donut eater and he ate 2 of these every morning. The girls who serve are fast, efficient and even with all the crowd are very friendly. It's not fancy but it is exactly the type bakery I would expect on the beach! Can't wait until next year! | |

The apple uglies are quite possibly the best pastry I have ever put in my mouth. It can be hit-or-miss getting them though. We stopped by one day last week around 8:30 and they were already sold out. We went the next day about 7:30 and was able to score some. I wish they would make more since they are so popular. Apple uglies are also great for dessert - heated up with some vanilla ice cream on top. Yum! Can't wait for the next time I'm in town and can enjoy one. | |

The apple ugly I had was very good, although I think I received a dud since it was mostly apple free. My wife had a burrito that was very large and very good. The eating area is somewhat small and was not especially clean. Overall, this is a great place to grab some breakfast on your way to the beach. | |

When we're down there on vacation, we usually go at least 3 times during our week. They came out with a chocolate covered apple ugly, and it's AWESOME!!! Of course, the traditional apple uglies are out of this world too. A very nice treat to have when you're on vacation. They published their own cookbook with their own baked goods recipes, along with other local cuisine; a neat thing to bring home for some Outer Banks treats any time of year. The outside of the building is a little deceptive, but the people inside are super friendly and have some of the best baked goods we've ever tasted! (And we've been to some pretty outstanding bakeries in NYC) | |

They introduced a baked ugly for those who wish for less calories. Haven't tried it yet, but it's supposed to be just as good.
