| HOJO IS NOW FOR HOBOS | | By a Guest Reviewer | | Hotels were scarce this summer weekend in Wilmington NC. Also, I didn't want to break the family piggy bank, so I felt staying in town in a a central location would be a fair compromise. I remembered Howard Johnson's from my childhood, it was one of the hotels my parents felt comfortable with. The price seemed reasonable, so we went for it. First of all Mapquest gave suspicious directions (they headed us out of town toward junk yards etc.) so I called the hotel, the receptionist gave very convoluted directions turn at Harris Teeter then turn again at CVs. I begged for street names, but she just said she recently moved to town and was doing the best she could and couldn't seem to understand why I was frustrated and upset with her--(She evidently expected an A for effort). She had us on a wild goose chase!!! Miraculously and no thanks to her we did find the hotel-the complete opposite direction she pointed us in. It was a DUMP.(We might have found a better hotel if we had stuck with her dire ctions). The bathroom had mold in every corner and on the shower curtains. The room smelled moldy. I would NEVER stay there again. I would sleep in my car first. | |
| Great location | | By a Guest Reviewer | | I had stayed several months back and the location is perfect. The staff very very friendly and helpful and they remembered me from before but the room was not that great as far as being that clean and together. One of the dresser drawers was broken and hanging down--no internet service in the room like it states it has and even though I asked for a smoking room and I don't smoke but the other party that was with me does smelt awful---they should use something like maybe Febreze or Renuzit Super Odor Neutralizer which I did buy. | |
| Never Again | | By a Guest Reviewer | | Although it is a beautiful location and convenient to everything, this Howard Johnson was awful. The sheets were dirty, they couldn't find our reservation and they didn't want to honor our Internet rate. Also, they placed two female guests on the first floor near the back exit. I would never stay there again! | |
