Nice option for Wilmington visit

This hotel is on Market Street right as you get into Wilmington from I40. Market street is very busy with lots of stop lights and a decent amount of traffic. There are lots of fast food restaurants, etc... so if you are looking for something more off the beaten path, look elsewhere. This Holiday Inn was convenient to both downtown and the beach (Wrightsville) - about 10 minutes to each. The hotel was older, but fairly well kept. We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on that. The staff was very friendly and called us about an hour after check in to make sure everything was up to par. I thought this was a nice touch. We had requested a non-smoking room, and although our room was designated non-smoking, it sure smelled like a smoker room. This was our only issue, and it wasn't that bad. We didn't ask to move, but I expect that the staff would've been accomodating had we asked. Overall, a decent option for the price .
