Review Guidelines
Basic Review Guidelines:

Your review should focus on specific aspects of the business you are reviewing. Do not simply state you liked or disliked the business - be specific.

The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked a business' products or service, but also why.

DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPS!

Do not mention competing company names in your reviews. Focus on the company you are reviewing, and if you wish, leave a review about the other companies on their directory listings.

Do not comment on other reviews - respect their position and write your own, but do not argue with others.

Do not use profanity or post spiteful remarks.

Do not write a review that is less than 50 words in length. The goal of a review is to share your experiences with a particular company - very short reviews do not accomplish this.

Do not post phone numbers, email addresses or URLs.

Do not post inflammatory reviews - stop and put yourself in the shoes of the owner of the business you are posting about.

Do not post many reviews about one business. Doing this will cause all of your reviews to be deleted.

Remember, you are responsible for your words.

Bad experience
By Guest on 7/8/2011
We went here during summer 2011. The wait was long but totally normal for ''in season.'' We passed the time at the bar where the bartenders and drinks were great! We were a large party and agreed to either be together at pushed together tables or side by side booths. Unfortunately we were seated outside at the pushed together tables. We wondered why there were sandwich bags full of water staples above our heads on the roof. But we ordered our food and it came out in a timely manner. It honestly was so-so. Nothing was outstanding for the prices we paid. Not long after we got our food, SWARMS of flies began landing all over our food, table, drinks, silverware. I looked around at other outdoor diners and there was only one or two flies bothering them. It seemed like it was out of a bad horror movie. I had to cover my food with my napkin and try to sneak out forkfuls. We soon decided to box up wasn't landed on and take it home. We complained to the manager and owner and initially they responded that well...it is outside...what do you expect? Then they told us that the sandwich bags of water were supposed to keep the flies away. Ummm they need a new strategy. I don't know if there was a dumpster underneath our section of the deck but it was over the top. We really complained and asked for a compensation (it was a birthday party of 11 people...a pretty large bill) and the owner ultimately took off 25%. That is why I gave it 4 stars for service...I felt that was a nice gesture. We really felt like our dinner was ruined by the uninvited bugs!

The restaurant on Topsail
By an NCBeaches Guest on 11/21/2008
We were down at Topsail for a get together with old friends and they suggested Daddy Mac's. Glad they did! Granted, it is the off season and from what we heard we would have waited a long time if it was in summer, but we will make it a point to wait if ever there in the summer. Being that it was a very cool late fall night we were able to be seated when we arrived. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. We ended up staying longer than we probably should have just to enjoy the view and felt like ''locals'' by the time we left. The real locals have a gem in Daddy Mac's.

Great Place
By an NCBeaches Guest on 10/3/2008
We had been to Daddy Mac's previously during the summer season. There was a long wait time, but we understood since it was summer. The food, service and view made the wait much easier. We have now been in the fall season and the wait time was not nearly as long. Once again the food was top notch. The servings were very generous and the crab dip is excellent. We almost didn't have room for our steak, ribs, shrimp and the pasta dish one of our party had. We will be back.

Not bad
By Guest on 7/21/2008
Our waitress was very good. The food was prepared right. It was a little expensive for the amount of food you got. They did not have any hush puppies, that was disappointing. The sweet tea was good and the view was very nice.

We have eaten here many times and the food is always wonderful and the service is great too. Servings are very generous. Sometimes we even order takeout because we stay within walking distance.

Very Good

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The weather was nice and we sat out on the porch. The food was excellent. We wanted to come back tonight but you must be closed on Mondays. The service was a little slow but the servers were pleasant. We appreciated the elevator, as my husband cannot walk up many steps.

Very Disappointed
By Fp44766 on 10/4/2007
Our family ownes property in Surf City and eat out quiet a bit. The last 2 times I have eaten at this restuarant the food was terrible. Interesting the last time I went and asked the waiter was the seafood local and they said no...I make it a practice if I am at the beach and eat seafood I want locally caught. So was appreciative of her being honest ordered the steak it was terrible. The owner acts as though he is doing you a favor and in my oppinion was very arrogant. I hope for him, my experience was not the norm.

Great Restaurant

Our whole family enjoyed dinner at Daddy Mac's. The food was wonderful and the servings were very generous. The atmosphere is top notch and the elevator made it very easy for my husband who doesn't do well on stairs due to a medical condition. We will definitely go again.
