I have stayed here every year for the last 25 years during the summer or on special occasions (just to get out of town) I would recommend them to anyone.

The resort is not new but it is maticulously maintained, very clean and comfortable. I generally go in last February and enjoy my sunny warm balcony on sunny days. A quick stop at the grocery store just

My family stays here every year. Oh, we've tried other places, some at over twice the money, but none can compare to teh overall value of the Whaler Inn!

It is a wonderful location. Although a hurricane was predicted for a few days later, the staff was still attentive and courteous. Great access to beach along with amenities such as full kitchen, washer & drier. Also loved the balcony where you could see the light from Cape Lookout!

We look forward every year to our trip. Being right on the ocean and just feet to our unit to eat in our own kitchen,or even do laundry is great. There is a newly rebuilt 25 million dollar aquarium right across the street. I have never met anyone who hasn't loved the Whaler Inn experience.

| 1 of 3 people found this review helpful: | | Don't stay here! | | By a Guest Reviewer | | We booked 2 nights here based on the good reviews we read here. I don't know where these other people stayed, but this place is not worth it. It's old and run down. The pool is located at the front of the hotel closer to the road than the beach. The water was not even cool and refreshing - but warm and slimy. The room (a sideview efficiency) was outdated and didn't feel clean. There was a worn out brillo pad and beat up cutting board in the kitchen (not that I was going to use them anyway), but they really need to update and buy new items for these rooms if they're going to charge $171 per night. This place is not worth it - stay somewhere else | |

Our room was immaculate, the oceanfront view was gorgeous, the staff was friendly, and the place was as quiet as a tomb, although it was packed for the holiday weekend. The Whaler really provides everything you need to enjoy your stay, including stuff to do on rainy days like books, magazines, puzzles, and games. It was nice to be able to just go to the office and pick up more soap or coffee filters whenever we needed it. It was really a home away from home. We absolutely hated to leave!
My 12-year-old loved it there. The game room and pool occupied a good deal of his time, when he wasn't on the beach. There's a nice grassy area by the ocean where we were able to grill, picnic, and just sit on the swings and watch the ocean. The beach itself is very quiet and there aren't a bunch of rowdy folks running around and cutting up. It's a nice family-oriented place and it was really easy to relax there.
The Whaler Inn is a great value, too. We were able to stay for 7 nights this year for what we paid to stay in another Atlantic Beach hotel for 3 nights last year. It really helps to have a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Not having to eat in restaurants saved our family a huge amount of money and we didn't have to find a clean laundromat to do laundry. It was all right there for us.
The Whaler Inn is, by far, my family's favorite place we've ever stayed and we can't wait to go back next year. We highly recommend it to anyone.

| 2 of 2 people found this review helpful: | | HOME AWAY FROM HOME! | | By a Guest Reviewer | | Our family of four have been staying at the Whaler for the past 5 years now and we always have an excellent vacation!! One of the many things that I like about the whaler is the room that we call''THE GOODY ROOM'' which has everything that you could ever wan't or need to make your vacation complete such as games, kitchen accessories.. and I mean all things that you could ever use in a kitchen!etc crock pots, roast pans, mixers, you name it they have it! All you do is check out the items you wan't (at no charge!) and you bring it back to the office when you are finished with them! GREAT SERVICE!!! | |

The room was very clean and the location was perfect. On the beach and a view of the ocean from most of the rooms. The next morning we met Darlene and Frank they were also friendly and helpful. The motel is on a main road but it was very quiet for a holiday weekend. There was plenty to do even if it rains. The pool is covered and there is lots of grassy area to sit in. I would recommend this place for singles and family alike. I will go back.

Ridiculously cheap. A spacious two bedroom, two bath ocean front condo with a large balcony, fully furnished (even a washer and dryer in the units) and ready for whatever you care to do with it is a hard thing to come by. At their prices, it's low enough to make folks ask, ''Are you sure?'' There's lots of timeshares, beach house rentals, hotels, and places for tourists to stay here on the SOBX, however, this is not one of the many over-priced, over-inflated traps in which you'll leave with guilt for having spent too much money. *COMFORTABLE. *CLEAN. *COURTEOUS *PRIVATE BEACH *INDOOR POOL AND JACUZZI We frequently have more people than our home can accomodate coming to visit, and the logical solution is to get a condo on the beach, which we frequently do. We've stayed at all of the area condos and hotels, trying to find the right one to send our visiting friends and family to consistently. This one is hands down the best place on the beach for young, old, rich, poor, handi-capable, ''too lazy so I'll use the elevators!'' discerning or those who just don't care as long as they're at the beach. The only negative aspects are, the TV's are small, the furnishings are slightly dated, and there's no on-site restaurant, however, again, at the places where the furnishings are new and there are on-site (tourist trap!) restaurants, you'll pay through the nose for these things that are far from When we stay at the Whaler Inn, we take the following items beyond the obvious clothes: Food. (If you forget condiments, Hardee's is right up the road and will give you handfulls of ''the basics!'') Charcoal for the outdoor grill. Laundry supplies (the best part: No suitcase full of dirty laundry!) Automatic dishwasher detergent. Personal toiletries. A deck of cards for the outdoor balcony. Beach gear. A portable CD/radio combo. COFFEE, SUGAR AND CREAMER - they have the coffee maker, cups and filters, but the actual accessories items that can make or break your day if forgoten, which is best started with a hot cup on the balony at sunrise. The place is small, which means whoever is tending the front desk will remember your name, and there's enough private beach that everyone has plenty of privacy and elbow room. And they never hassle ya. They don't call you, you call them, and on vacation, who wants someone barking orders at them as if your boss is there with you?! For an affordably good time, call The Whaler Inn! ''There's nothin' finer than the beaches of Coastal Carolina''
