The Atlantis opened in 1963 in the middle of a maritime forest directly on the Atlantic Ocean. There are five different types of rooms at the Atlantis. They vary from standard rooms with either 2 double beds or 1 king bed, to efficiency rooms with 1 double bed, 2 double beds, or 1 king bed. The Atlantis accepts pets in all of the efficiencies. A maximum of two pets may be allowed per unit, with a fee of $10.00 per pet, per night. Chairs, lounges and umbrellas are all complimentary in the summer months, and the Atlantis Lodge's beach attendants will glad to assist you.

| It's the perfect place | | By an NCBeaches Guest on 8/22/2007 | | Well we are back home after our week stay. This was our 6th year coming there and have always loved every minute there. Already looking forward to next year and of course the dogs are too. | |

We have found each and every time your place has always been very clean and the staff could not be any nicer. We have found the right place to vacation.

Almost every single room had individuals who had one or two dogs. This is (roughly) a 30 room motel. The room was a decent size with a stove, refrigerator, & microwave. Our room had a double (not a queen) bed & a pull out couch. Pluses:
1. Takes dogs for a small pet fee. 2. Dogs are allowed on beach in front of hotel (technically supposed to be on leash, but ours were off leash (on voice command) and nobody had a problem. 3. Very friendly staff. 4. Free use of cabannas and chairs on beach. 5. Nice game/rec room
Negatives:
1. Hotel is VERY dated. The hotel (I think) was built in the 1950's and nothing has been updated since. 2. The plumbing was in poor condition. 3. At $180 a night (before pet fees), the resort is overpriced.
Overall the deal is that if you want a nice place, this is not the place for you. If you are willing to do a 2 star hotel and love your pets/care about their comfort, this is a good place to stay.

Been going here to stay since l978 and always enjoy my visits with great anticipation of a great time. Excellent staff in the office under the Direction of Missy, a great asset to the Atlantis. Would return again, and again always hate to leave when our time is up.

| 1 of 1 people found this review helpful: | | Our Destination | | By a Guest Reviewer | | We wait all year for one magical week at the Atlantis. Rooms are comfortable, clean and well-appointed and the daily room service cannot be beat. The grounds are beautiful and kept that way on a daily basis. Great beach, and being able to vacation with our dog is the best!! | |

I can not say enough about the place. Oh sure, there are a lot of those new fancier hotels all over the place. But we truly sought, and got a peaceful quiet relaxing atmosphere at your place. I'm hoping to be able to return this year after Labor Day. The room was great, the people friendly and the location fantastic. You are doing a great job - keep up the good work.

| 1 of 1 people found this review helpful: | | My Memory Maker | | By a Guest Reviewer | | ''If the memories are sweet, you don't need the pictures.'' At The Atlantis the memories are always sweet - the view is unforgettable, the accomodations are very comfortable, the staff is friendly and caring. W e travel other places, but there is something about The Atlantis that draws us back again and again. If you want marble floors and crystal chandeliers, this is not for you. If you want to step into a simpler time, a Normam Rockwell painting kind of place, visit The Atlantis. You will feel as though you have come home. This is one of those places where you stay until the last minute and then start making plans to return as soon as you can. | |

| 1 of 1 people found this review helpful: | | Needs Updating | | By a Guest Reviewer | | We have been going to Atlantis Lodge off and on for 16 years and after a 4 year absence... we returned and discovered it still has the same furniture (1960s) and is in dire need of central air! Also has some nice points...location, beach is super, pool is great and landscaping is nicely done. Rooms on bottom floor cannot see the ocean and pets are becoming a nuisance (I should say pet owners), one guy on the second floor balcony was grooming two BIG German Sheppards and the hair was raining down on the first floor's patio! Pet owners didn't always clean up after pets and let them run loose without a leash. We were very disappointed and will probably not return! This seems to be the only negative review ...(I left my pets at home!) | |

| 1 of 1 people found this review helpful: | | Amazing Place! | | By a Guest Reviewer | I go to the Atlantis all the time, it's really the only place I go for the beach. It's so great that pets get to go, and it gives the place a real friendly atmosphere. The lounge is sweet, because whenever it rains you have a back-up plan where you don't have to leave the hotel. The rooms are very nice, and the daily cleaning service is really great. The employees are very friendly. The owners of the hotel are also very friendly if you ever get the chance to see them. The beachside is great, great location for a game of volleyball or bocceball or just for some surfing. The pool is very nice, and the kiddie pool is great because little kids can have fun in the waterfall and the parents don't have to worry. Keep up the good work Atlantis!
PS - They have just installed a Wi-Fi connection for free for any guest.

| 1 of 1 people found this review helpful: | | My dog and I had a great time | | By a Guest Reviewer | This wonderful hideaway is on the beach. I enjoyed a quiet stay with my dog during the weekday. Only wish they had wireless access or a data port so I could do some work.
Only 2 complaints-one is got noisy when the motel filled up on the weekend, and my dog could not sleep in bed with me.
But, hey, we were at the beach!

| 1 of 1 people found this review helpful: | | Great Honeymoon Location | | By a Guest Reviewer | Just got back from our honeymoon at Atlantis. We spent several nights at Atlantis and 1 night at the Sheraton down the beach.
The Sheraton cost 2 times the Atlantis and 1 half the amenenties. For example, the Atlantis offers a deck with furniture and a screen door so we could sleep with the waves singing us to sleep. The Sheraton has a ledge with no furniture and no screen door.
The Atlantis room had a kitchen and big windows with a view of the beach from throughout the room. At the Sheraton you had to be standing on the ledge to see the beach.
The Atlantis offered free beach chairs and loungers, very comfortable. The Sheraton made you rent chairs (only until 5 PM) from someone other than the hotel.
The Atlantis had a hose to wash your feet off right as you got on the walkway, the Sheraton you had to walk a bit out of the way.
And somehow the Atlantis managed to have better waves for boogie boarding!
We're going back to the Atlantis!

| 1 of 1 people found this review helpful: | | Serenity...The Atlantis | | By a Guest Reviewer | The Atlantis is truly a place of comfort and relaxation. We have been coming since my father died in 2000... I was in need of a place to get away...when I opened the door of the room.. all I saw was ocean..from one end of the room to the other...It became my true love. From the time you come into the oasis of friendliness and cleanliness.. to the time of spending time on the beautiful beach...The Atlantis provides a quiet place to unwind and recharge from our hectic life... ''Cappy'' (our sheltie) who absolutely loves the waves, drags me back to the office to see Joan to get a cookie!!! Thank you Joan for Loving our Baby Cap'N... A step back in time... A special place to spend precious time... | |

We started going when our daughter was small and now take our grandchildren. It is truely our home away from home. The efficiencies are well designed and spacious. Staff is wonderful...warm and friendly and do all within their power to make your stay comfortable.

It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy your summer vacation. Housekeeping is excellent - the rooms are very comfortable and clean. We look forward to August when we plan to return.

| 2 of 2 people found this review helpful: | | A great place to relax | | By a Guest Reviewer | | We have been coming back for over 15 years. The staff is warm and friendly. The rooms are cozy and inviting. I always leave with a warm feeling for this beautiful oasis. It may not be the fanciest place but it sure is special to my family. Thanks, Atlantis! | |
