| Go every week. | | By a Guest Reviewer | | Love the hometown atmosphere. Friendly local folks. Waitresses very helpful. | |

| Crab Legs!!! | | By a Guest Reviewer | | This is definitely a hometown-type restaurant - small and non-trendy. That can be a good thing, because it's a great hidden treasure - my whole point of raving about this place. They have all-you-can-eat crab legs and it is served with hushpuppies and butter. That's all you need! | |

| Down-home cooking | | By a Guest Reviewer | | Great food, wonderful people! | |

| Food is Great | | By a Guest Reviewer | | The hometown place. Food and friends and John of course! Great lunch and great dinner! | |

| Been there many times. | | By a Guest Reviewer | | I have been going to John's restraunt since he first opened his doors. Yes Service has changed If you ask to speak to John and voice your concerns you will be taken care of. If your food is not to your liking then , again talk to John. John is a very fair man and will do whatever he can to please.. Being Italian we believe that the meal is for friends and loved ones to gather. this is the feeling you have at Croatan Cafe. It also has a bigger dinning area in another part of the building. Being from a ''Big City'' I learned the good places to eat are the ones with most people and the most cars outside as well as the word of mouth. You will NOT leave hungry! Drive past Croatan Cafe and you will see John stays busy. There is NOT a long wait for your food. | |

| Locals Call it Home | | By a Guest Reviewer | | John has the best thing going that Newport has seen in a long time. The local people eat there all the time. We eat there every weekend. Great service great food! | |

| Used to Be Good | | By a Guest Reviewer | | Waitresses are spread too thin or just absent-minded. The food is very good, though they do NOT give you as much seafood as they used to. I had 3 scallops on a seafood platter and a thin strip of flounder. | |

| aahh | | By a Guest Reviewer | | not very nice on phone, take out ok, dine in a little better | |
