Since February 1974, the mission of the Arts Council of Carteret County has been to expand, promote and nurture the arts, honor traditional culture, and welcome creativity. They are able to accomplish their mission by supporting programs such as Art from the Heart, the Candlelight Art Tour, and Student Art Shows. Carteret County also participates with 22 other counties to offer Regional Artist Project Grants. In addition to these programs, the Arts Council also provides funding to county non-profit organizations for arts related projects as a part of the NCAC Grassroots Arts Program.
