My review is not biased at all just because I go there, I believe it's a great place to begin martial arts, but maybe not so great of a place if you plan on making martial arts your career, unless of cource you plan on teaching in the ATA, which i'm afraid I don't reccomend.
I'm not going to say ATA sucks, and I'm not going to say ATA is amazingly outstanding and gaurenteed to make you and or your child the next Bruce Lee, I just hope that my story with help you with your decision.
When I first joined ATA; I was a skinny little 13 year old, who was tormented throughout almost all of middleschool, and when I first joined the academy, I was extremely quiet and scared of everyone.
Now I am almost a black belt and I am seriously considering making martial arts my career, not in teaching, but ring fighting. Because of ATA, my social skills, confidence, reflexes, flexbility, and sharp eyes have increased tremendously since I joined.
The instructor is a very kind man, who sometimes tries too hard with the little kids in my opinion on entertaining them instead of training them, but he is still a great teacher and mentor. He has lived on the streets of Brooklyn, and knows what it's like to be in a dangerous situation.
Here's my summary of this review.
The instructor is a very nice man, and a good teacher; not the best, but good enough!
The school is pretty up to date, and the organization holds many huge tournaments, which many that are serious about martial arts will be pleased to find.
The contracts are very aggravating, which is why you have to be sure this is the decision you want to make.
And to sum up my summary which wasn't exactly a summary...
ATAs a good school, with a decent teacher, good people, and a good enviroment, the only thing the instructor needs to work on is listening to the customers advice, afterall, when it comes to buisiness, the customer knows best.

This academy is run by a family and they are always willing to work with you on a program that is best suited for your child. My only criticism is that the owners 2 year old son is allowed to participate in any classes that he wants to, which I think isn't fair to the older children in the class.
