TERMS:
- Writers may only work on one (1) article at a time. You may not reserve more than one writing assignment at a time.
- Writers who have submitted three or more works may elect to have their real name associated with the article. Authors with less than three articles submitted will be listed as "Staff Writer".
- You must submit a completed topic #1 before continuing work on this article. The first topic must be submitted within 48 hours after you reserve this article. Failure to submit a completed topic #1 within 48 hours will cause this article to be re-released to the public and you will not be paid. You may re-reserve this article should noone else reserve it first for a 48 hour extension. Only three extensions will be allowed.
- If we do not approve your submitted topic, we will notify you. We do not pay for content we do not accept, and any submitted work will be destroyed on our end.
- If we do approve your submitted topic, we will notify you, and pay a deposit of $25 if you wish. We will then notify you to complete the article. You will have one week to complete the rest of the article. You may request a one week extension. If the article is not completed within one week, (two weeks if you have requested an extension), the article will be re-released to the public and you will not be paid.
- After you submit your completed article, we will notify you within 48 hours if we approve it. You must make any requested changes and re-submit your article.
- After your work is approved, (maximum of 48 business hours), we will pay you via PayPal only. You must submit your full name and valid email address in order to be paid via PayPal
- Should you accept $600 or more in work, you are required to submit your social security number and physical address before accepting your third payment. This allows us to send a 1099-MISC to you next year.
- NC Beaches, Inc. retains copyright to all submitted articles and author agrees that NC Beaches, Inc. may use submitted article in any format and may edit article in any way without further compensation to author.

Captain Charlie's Kids Fishing Tournament

Held annually on the same weekend as the King Mackerel Tournament, the Kids Fishing Tournament fills the Southport Pier with junior anglers (up to age 16) while the senior anglers are out at sea. A joint effort of the Southport Recreation Department and the Southport Lions Club along with some retail sponsors, it is a big event for the kids, who bring their own rod and reel and bait. The first 100 kids receive a free T-shirt, and there are free hot dogs and drinks for everyone. There is a fish-bowl drawing for prizes throughout the tournament; the prize for the biggest fish is a rod and reel, and there are many other prizes donated by merchants. Best of all, this is a catch-and-release tournament -- an environmental lesson for kids.
Small Fry Fishing Tournament

The Small Fry Tournament is a day for families and their children ages 3 to 12 to fish along with local police officers. Registration starts at 8:30 AM. Three age categories include: 3 to 5, 6 to 8, and 9 to 12. A $100 first prize is awarded in each age group. Second and third place winners receive prizes and all kids get their choice of a toy after the event.

During the first weekend in October, this tournament offers young anglers a chance to fish in Atlantic Beach as part of the N.C. Seafood Festival. Prizes are awarded for the largest of any kind of fish caught, and each angler goes home with a prize.
