It doesn't look like much when you first pull up but it's well worth a stay. It's very small but very clean with friendly, helpful staff. Lots of dining options and shopping within walking distance. I was there first with a small group of artists painting for the week. I'm going back in the fall and am really looking forward to spending a relaxing week on the water. | |

We go on Valentine's weekend and on our anniversary. We have always stayed at Riverside Motel. It is perfect for a quiet weekend for just the two of you, or for family reunions, weddings, because of the beautiful views & location. It is a small motel, only 8 rooms, 6 waterfront, with beautiful views of the Cape Fear River, Bald Head Island, and the beautiful lighthouse on Long Beach. When you step out your back door, you are welcomed with a large private swing for each room, and the water is about 15 feet away. We love sitting in the swing in the morning watching the seagulls, the large tankers that come by, and in the evenings, the beautiful sunsets & boats that are all around. This is a very quaint motel that you will want to go back to. It's small, but always super clean, the staff is so friendly, they always accomodate any requests that we have. The rooms are simple, the decor is nice, it's not outdated. There's a great restaurant right beside of the motel, and several others just within walking distance. There's tons of shopping close by, and lots of unique little stores within walking distance too. Southport is a place that we enjoy going to every year, and it just wouldn't be the same without staying at Riverside Motel. | |

My only complaint is that the parking is horrible and we drove our new car and we had to park beside these nasty stinky dumpsters and we found some garbage on my car the next morning and a ding in my door. Don't bring your nice car when you come. | |
