It is always crowded and the service we have received, if you can call it service, has been awful as well. Dirty store. The Wal-Mart in Southport is MUCH cleaner!

While in Oak Island/Southport on vacation we came here to stock up our beach rental. Two weeks is how long we were staying. We chose to pay more and go to Food Lion on the island than shop here. The floors were filthy, the produce department was full of fruit flies, the bathrooms smelled terrible and the lines were back to ladies clothing. All of this and we hadn't even gotten ''into'' the store yet. Harry the store manager had NO clue as to how to deal with anything that was going on. Some woman named Cora (?)said she was a manager but seemed to not know a thing. When I expressed concern about the bathrooms being dirty and the produce dept full of bugs she shrugged her shoulder's at me, started talking into her talkie talkie thing and called Harry up there. From any point of view it is a VERY poorly run business with several health and safety issues. It's dirty and understocked and all the employees looked like they were ready to fall out. The 6 cashiers they had (on a Satruday in summer) looked like they were ready to fall out above all. Don't Shop there. It's not worth the headache to save a few pennies.
