However, we were incredibly disappointed. The clam chowder was awful and when we brought it to the attention of our waitress her response was ''Oh, I don't eat clam chowder! How was your salad? I made it myself!'' So we ended up paying for 2 bowls of clam chowder we couldn't eat, and the rest of the food wasn't much better. I later found out (from a waitress at the other Betty's) that the cooler where they kept the clam chowder wasn't working and so we were actually served rotting clam chowder...lovely! I'm so glad that we started visiting the other Betty's first, because if this had been our first Betty's experience, we never would have tried the other one. We'll keep going to the Waterfront, but won't be returning to this location. | |

It features fresh seafood, prepared in a variety of ''uptown'' ways. I had a wonderful fresh piece of Tuna, seared with fresh cracked peppercorns and skillfully dressed with a red wine reduction sauce. Superlative. My husband had the Jumbo Shrimp with Spinach Pasta, tossed in a freshly made Pesto sauce. The flavor was simply amazing. We got the ''smaller'' portions, offered at $14.95, but the portions were still plentiful. Our dinners were served on unusual ceramic plates - mine was a white rectangular piece, and his was on a black and white square plate. I was surprised that this restaurant wasn't packed. This is truly an amazing find in Shallotte. | |
