I ate the mozzeralla cheesesticks and pizza, and I was satisfied. If you are tired of eating at all the other places and want to try something new, you should eat here. Not fancy, but the price is right and the food is good.

We've been going to Joey O's every summer since it opened. We love it! You can't get great pizza like that anywhere else in NC. My husband especially loves the Meat Lovers. It is piled high with meats and it's a huge pizza! Just their cheese pizza is fabulous! Definitely recommend it.

That's the happy story that is Joey O's in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
I've been vacationing in Sunset Beach, North Carolina for 10 years. Pizza is my favorite food. As a result, the pizza gods have laughed at me for quite a long time. There simply wasn't any pizza restaurant in the Sunset Beach, NC area that qualified as the sort of pie one might enjoy during a vacation. You know, an extra-special, ultra-tasty, ''that was really great pizza'' sort of pie. Roberto's and Cinelli's were OK, but not quite enough to seal the deal.
Then things changed. Joey O's Pizzeria opened between Sunset and Ocean Isle Beaches, and now I look forward to vacation time just so I can enjoy a pie from Joey O's. What was a relative pizza wasteland a couple of years ago is now a pizza mecca, and for that you can thank Joey O's. They won't mind if you do it with your mouth full. Joey O's is real New York Italian, served by a family that cares and knows. This is an unassuming yet well-kept restaurant where you know right when you walk in the door what the deal is--casual Italian rendered in true New York style with authenticity and flavor. And boy, do I mean flavor!
All the usual suspects are on the menu, along with nightly specials. I'm sure they're all fantastic. I've seen and smelled many lovely plates carried past me while I waited for the reason I go to Joey O's every time I'm at my family's place at Sunset Beach--the impossibly good pizza.
Pizza is my favorite food. If I could only have one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be pizza. Pizza, pizza, and more pizza--that would be fine with me. I worked in 3 different pizza restaurants when I was in school, and have a knowledge of and admiration for what it takes to produce a great pie. When I watch the kitchen action at Joey O's, I know I'm watching people who get it--who understand what New York pizza is about, and who are carrying the torch boldly and with great panache, in a place no reasonable person would expect to find such quality.
I'm not kidding when I say that Joey O's is right up there with the giants like John's, Lombardi's, and Grimaldi's in NYC. This is the real deal, folks. This is hand-tossed, carefully developed New York style dough that's watchfully managed in the oven by the obviously veteran and well-inked kitchen staff, who toss, top, and paddlehandle with the best of them. The sauce is fruity, zesty in the best sense of the word, and with just the right consistency. Toppings are fresh, high-quality, and applied generously without overbalancing the dough-sauce-cheese-toppings equation, that when mastered can open the door to pizza nirvana. Joey O's has your keys.
If you're visiting the golf mecca that is Myrtle Beach, SC or the beach mecca that is Brunswick County, NC, and you love real New York Italian done right by people that know what they're doing, you simply cannot miss Joey O's Pizzeria.
Highest recommendation.
