| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Holy yummy cow! | | By Steve on 7/10/2008 | The best deep fried oysters I have had in years! Seriously!
The hush puppies were plentiful and delicious and the clam strips were excellent.
Overall, this was a great family restaurant.

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Dining with the Ants!!! | | By outtoeat on 6/27/2008 | | My husband and I went to eat at the Seafood Barn. We were enjoying the delicious hush puppies when we realized that we were not alone! We were dining with a nice family of ants!! Gross!!! We brought the ants to the attention of the waitress. We were given another table and the next set of unsuspecting diners were sitted within 10 minutes of us moving. Probably the worst thing was the dead ant on the linen napkin wrapped around the silverware. A problem that many experience but demands immediate attention in a dining establishment. | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Part Of The Tradition | | By abdnva on 6/10/2008 | I've been coming to Holden Beach for 18 years now. Fortunately, on our first trip, we found the Seafood Barn, and we've been every year since. Now, it is included twice in the weekly rotation. Yes, we go twice a week when we're down.
The fried seafood is better than the restaurants in Calabash serve, as it is not overly breaded, and is light & peppery.
The grilled selections are the best. Everything is very flavorful, and the portions are more than enough. You had better be a big guy if you order a large of anything!
I can't imagine coming to Holden without visiting the Seafood Barn a couple of times. It's not fancy, but it is VERY consistent, and the quality & portions are worthwhile. Actually, the pricing is very reasonable too.

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | | | Great Place | | By Family of Four on 6/25/2007 | | We have been to Holden Beach three times and have always eaten a couple meals at the Seafood Barn. It's great! Last night, my wife and I had the Coconut Shrimp and both kids had the fish. The portions are always large and the food is delicious. The hushpuppies are brought to your table before you order and they are wonderful. We will definitely eat at the Seafood Barn a few more times this week. | |

| Value: | | Service: | | Food: | | | Ambiance: | | Wine List: | | | | Going down hill | | By an NCBeaches Guest on 6/1/2007 | | I have been coming to this beach for 25+ years. I have watched my favorite restaurant turn into a tourist trap. Over priced, smaller plates. The owner's have stopped caring about the food. All they care about is traveling. My waitress was very good. She was one of the older girls.Alot of personality. NO local's eat there any more. They know good food. And it's not their anymore! I am heart broken. | |

The food seems like it came straight from the freezer, and it doesn't seem like much care goes into making anything (even the salads).
It seems to me like the owners are content with just selling to the tourists and making whatever they can without any regard to making things better. Sadly, there are always these types of places in every tourist town, and the Seafood Barn is HB's.

| Pleasantly surprised | | By a Guest Reviewer | | Six of us ate there at the recommendation of a local realtor. Neat place! Filled with lots of old interesting stuff. Interesting menu, not what I expected. Not your typical fried seafood place. Crab dip and buffalo shrimp appetizers were incredible. The entrees were quite good and reasonably priced. But they give you too much food! We even inquired about having our family reunion in the upstairs banquet room. Great travel pictures on the wall. Two thumbs up. | |

Highly recommend the grilled chicken salad... definitely the best for the money here. Main dishes, particularly seafood, tend to be a tad pricey. The hushpuppies, which come like onion rings, are to die for! Get some exercise on the beach... the booths are a bit tight for us larger creatures
