We've been visiting for about 15 years now and the service and food are always great. The only time we ever had a waitress who wasn't friendly or competent, she turned out to be a dog groomer who was just helping out for the evening and really had no idea what she was doing. I'm not a huge fan of fried seafood, so I always order mine broiled and it's fantastic. We also have fun watching the boats on the ICW while we enjoy our meal. | |

ambiance is weird, food sucks considering you are a couple hundred yards from the ocean. waitstaff consists of a couple of really tan girls in shorts who could care less. (i too had veggie issues) Strong drinks!! not worth the money. | |

The food was bad, but I would have to say that the drinks were very good. Our waitress was very rude towards us and ignored us the intire time untill the check came. The veiws were wonderful and sadly that is the only good thing I have to say about Betty's. We will never go there again. | |

My salad never came and I had to ask for my vegetables, which were cold when served. Our waitress was inexperienced and completely overwhelmed. The presentation of the food was pathetic.
I get better, fresher tasting seafood at home and I don't live near the coast.
The management was indifferent to our complaints and the sad thing was that we had to stand in line to complain.
We will not go back! | |

We tried, we really did. We have gone to Betty's multiple times over the years. We always encountered the same thing.
The service is indifferent. The prices are too high. The quality & consistency of the food is absent.
The food is 'not bad', but it doesn't rate the high prices charged. It is too easy to go elsewhere in town, or to even drive to Calabash or Southport, & enjoy food that is as good or better for less money.
The location is terrific. That's why we kept trying it. But every time - indifferent hostesses, lazy wait staff, food takes too long to arrive, high prices, and we're always pushed to eat fast & get out so they can serve someone else. I'm serious, the waitstaff keeps dropping hints about how 'You're done, now, right?' while we were still nowhere near being finished with our meals. Very tacky...
I don't like posting negativity, but Betty's is a disappointment. We went every year five years in a row, and it was the same every time. We gave them every chance, and the result was always the same.
Best of luck to them, but we won't be part of their clientele any more. Other restauraunts appreciate our patronage far more, and are far better values. | |

It needs to be hot and not soaked in oil. The specials are well prepared and worth the extra cost.We are looking foward to our next visit. a good value for the whole family. | |

Poor service | | By tntraveller on 4/9/2008 | | My sister-in-law suggested that we try Betty's on our trip here in May of '07. She had visited the year before and loved it. All I can say is that the place has gone downhill. The waitress was somewhat rude to our party and, at times, she virtually ignored us. The food was slow to come, but they were pretty busy, so I will give them a pass on that one. But there is never an excuse to be rude. When the food finally did arrive it was mediocre at best, with the exception of the hush puppies, which were excellent. | |

We have three small children and the gobbled up the hushpuppies and loved the gameroom. Service was great and food even better. Portions are great. My oldest son(5 at the time) had a huge chicken sandwich which he got to enjoy agian the nest day for a quick and easy lunch! The views of the intercoastal waterwy are beautiful and the kids like watching the boats pull right up and see the people come in to eat. We will ALWAYS visit here each year, it is a family favorite! | |

It´s a tradition for my family and has been for years. Can´t beat the views or the staff. And I´m not a seafood eater, but I love the other options. And the fresh catches they offer every night is always loved by my family, namely the pepper encrusted red snapper. Try it! And, the hushpuppies and sweet tea are to die for. | |
