| 10 of 13 people found this review helpful: | | Value: | | Service: | | | | Lying is not a good business practice | | By Zac Bass (Asheville, North Carolina) on 1/11/2009 | I booked a trip with Calabash to go on a 12 hour Gulf Stream trip on 01/10/09. They said they already had 16 other people booked. I drove down to N Myrtle Beach the day before the trip and got a hotel room. I got a phone call the night before the trip and was told that they just got a weather advisory that there were going to 10 foot seas and that they would not go out. I had checked the wave forecast that morning w/ 4ft seas and it sounded odd that it could change so fast. I was very disappointed as I had just driven 5.5 hours to get there and would not get a chance to go again for some time. I asked if there was anyone else going out to the gulf stream and they told me there was not but they referred me to a company in Little River that was doing a half day black bass trip. Well, not really what I wanted but better than nothing. When I got back to the hotel I looked in the yellow pages to try to find a full day or something somewhere else. I saw a full page ad for a boat leaving out of the same marina. I called anyway and low and behold they had a Gulf Stream strip going out. The trip was great and had 2-4 foot seas and I caught some decent grouper and grey snapper. In short Calabash flat out lied about the weather to cover up that they were not going out for some reason or another (i.e. they had not signed up as many people as they said and that they did not want me calling the competition next door thinking the weather would be bad). Like they didn't know there neighbors went on Gulf Stream trips, or got bad forecast info, yeah right. I hate liars! | |
